hey squirt,

apparently you didn't read where she previously did make that distinction.

anyone with decent reading compensation can tell that she used the wrong word the second time around.

perhaps they did not teach reading compensation at devryU?

unclebcuk.
I didn't re-read the whole thread to reply to that inaccurate comment, so I don't care what she said earlier.

Since original poster still seems confused about Obama's power to alter the minimum wage, despite multiple posts clarifying that power, I have zero confidence in original poster's ability to distinguish between inflation and productivity, regardless of what may have been said earlier.

President Obama has the right to raise minimum wage via Executive Order..will it come down to that and what do you think it will be?

I'm hoping it's $15/hour or somewhere in the general vicinity this will bring gross from an unliving wage of $290/week to a living wage of $600/week..further, pretty funny that McD's pulled their "McResources" after public outcry..

blogging and getting people involved really does work..
Executive orders have no power outside of the Federal system. Executive orders are not laws, they are orders to various federal agencies. Obama may be able to raise the minimum wage paid out by federal agencies, but it won't affect private business.

I just figured this out...

Nobody in a union makes minimum wage. This is a bone thrown to the Unions to make private companies less competitive. I should have seen it before.

Did you also make a note of the following during your epiphany?

Raising min. wage will have no effect on that stunningly negative derivative. I also presume you have never worked in a Union, correct?

One of the first things I thought of was when I was working for my dad we did a lot of work at/for Oak Ridge National Labratories. When ever we did we had to pay our guys $15 an hour instead of the $12.50 they typically made.

And what sort of remuneration did your pops receive on that deal relative to the private sector?
I take it that extra $2.50 didn't break the bank or cause him to shutdown.

No, I am claiming that it is being used more and more like a decree from a king.

Why do people always point to something being abused as something done before? Does that excuse the action?

It is important to remember that a Republican might be president again and the power given to one is given to all by precedent.

I am worried that the liberals and the left believe the end justifies the means and are short sighted and do not realize that they are giving their liberties away as well.

Seriously, do you read anything at all or do you just spew? I already clarified that Obama can raise the minimum wage for certain federal workers and contractors. He cannot do anything generally.

Changing the act of congress that defines the federal minimum wage? That cannot be done by Obama with an executive order. Period. It would be a constitutional crisis and such an action would be struck down by every court in the nation.
things are changing..harry reid invoked the nuclear option didn't he?

you have got to be the dumbest thing right out of a dickensian dystopia.

unions are having to fight just to keep a $0.10 over minimum wage guarantee.

better start boycotting safeway, you schnook.

The biggest problems as I see it economically are our corporate law/tax structure. It's taken decades for those in power to skew laws in the favor of themselves. Min wage laws hurt Mom and Pop 5 and dime while not touching the Wal-marts of the world. This gives the big corporations even more of an advantage.

America prospered on the idea of the "American Dream", where anyone with any means could come here and become a success. Now the liberal goal is to come here, work for someone else but have a guaranteed wage. I'm not a fan of your damaging policies. You guys keep coming with ideas that further entrench the corporate way, it's not how we should be doing it.

For those working less than 30hrs a week. That new threshold that the latest and greatest liberal ideas brought us. You guys are such first level thinkers.

Liberal Gov: "We are demanding you give what we say to those working over 30 hrs a week"
Businesses: "Ok then, we'll cut people back to 29 hrs".
Liberal Gov: "Hey! that's mean!!"
