    Watering without disturbing soil

I was worried when I'd water new seedlings that had skinny stems. I could see some of them wobble so I made a hand-waterer. I rinsed out a small bottle that had held Dawn detergent in it and now am able to drip as little as I want to with the soap bottle. Just be sure to rinse the bottle well...

    Question about my perpetual setup

I have a perpetual grow going since 2011. Here's a few of my observations. 1. I need four times the floor space for flowering than I need for vegging. My veg room is actually a 5 x 3 foot area carved out of my laundry room. My flower room is 8 x 8. 2. You should have plenty of lumens for your...

should i add perlite to fox farm soil??

FF has all the perlite needed for my plants. I switched from Miracle-Gro potting mix to FF because the FF is less clumpy with fewer chinks of wood. The extra perlite has been a bonus. MG PM is 10% perlite and the FF 15% or so. Good luck, BigSteve.

    Root Rot or Not?

Root rot usually shows up with roots turning green or black. Those roots I can see are healthy. Good luck, BigSteve.

    Stretching during flowering

I find that my plants will continue to add height for 2-3 weeks after starting 12/12. I veg until they are around 20 inches tall and can pretty much count on them doubling in height while flowering. 15 inches should be more than enough room to keep from having to worry about them getting too...

Keeping clone vegging for a while?

You can clone clones indefinitely. I had a Blueberry Gum strain going I liked so much I quit counting after 8-10 generations. To use the proper terminology - the first mom is referred to as F1. Her clones would be F2, etc. One important thing to remember is that you will have best results with...

    Topping your plant questions

I wouldn't worry. Your plants are still early in veg state and that means the plants are spending most of their energy laying down a root mass large enough to stabilize the plants. You topped them nice and early, just about when I would recommend. You can either top them or FIM them to change...

    I finally stopped murdering seeds...

I used to have problems when putting sprouts with real short (1/2 inch or less) tap roots into dirt. I came up with a new protocol that has me back to just about 100% success rate. My new seedlings go into 8 oz. Styrofoam cups with holes for drainage. I was having problems with the seedcap not...

    cloning

I always take clones from vegging moms only. Think about it, when the plant has advanced to flower mode most of the incoming energy is used to grow buds. You want to take your cuttings while the rooting hormones are still prompting the plant to grow roots, ie. during veg period. Note. Wait until...

    Seeds with a credit card?

Attitude has the best selection but there is a wrinkle if you order with your cc. When you are checking out there is a list of buttons for the various types of card. Two of them are "Visa" and "Vise - Debit". Even if your Visa isn't a debit card you need to push the debit button. I talked to...

can i revege in 2nd week of flower?

You may be a touch late. I've tried various things over the years and am convinced that 7-10 days is about the longest you can go from 12/12 back to veg without waiting 3 or 4 weeks for the reversion. Also, I will take clones from a donor mom if she has been at 12/12 for a week or less. Any...

twisting plant. The whole plant not just branches

Sometimes you will get curly leaves or stems when you have been moving either the plant or the light source. If you move the bulb the plant will swivel to try to get more exposure to the ligh.ty. Try leaving them in one place for a while and see what happens. Good luck, BigSteve.

Anyone know a weed friendly landlord in Michigan?

Having a MJ card would be helpful. I would be upfront and tell the property owner that you plan on growing for medicinal reasons. The owner's concern is going to be that the renters will have permanent parties with a lot of people coming and going all hours day and night. Assure the owner that...

How to make lower branches thicker

Try transplanting into a pot that is at least as wide as it is tall. If you use a tall skinny pot you are more likely to grow a tall skinny plant. The pot size/shape tells the plant how to invest the energy it is producing via photosynthesis. Good luck, BigSteve.

    Help!! Twisted growth shriveld growth

Two things going on here. Leaves have been either over-watered (my guess) or unederwatered with heat stress. The other factor is the "swirlies". That occurs when you change the orientation between the plant and the bulb. The leaves will try to track the light source and remain pointed towards...

    Yellow leafs on bottom

I'm thinking the first picture may be a bit of nute-burn which is little to no problem. Second picture looks like the plant is starting into flowering phase. That is natural and harmless. As the plant gets older it transfers the energy it produces from vegging (growing roots and greenery) to...

    MI Cannabis cup.

Got my Michigan MJ card last fall. A couple things to note -- *There is "caregiver" status or no "caregiver". Being a caregiver allows you to grow an extra 12 plants that are dedicated to someone else. *Simple "possession" status allows you to possess up to 12 plants at any time. A plant is...

    Seedlings keep stalling

I would still put them into solo cups and keep them there until the plant is twice as tall as the cup alone. If using a 5-inch solo cup let the plant get 9-10 inches tall the TP into final pot, probably a 3-gallon pot??? Good luck, BigSteve.

    Seedlings keep stalling

Put them into solo cups when they first go into dirt. You are wasting weeks waiting for the plant to grow roots out to the inside of the pot. Plants need to support themselves by building a rootball. By using huge pots right off the bat the plant will spend a lot of extra time growing more roots...

    Stunted seedlings

A lot of the time people think they have a stunted plant when the actual cause is something else. The most common mistake is putting brand new seedlings straight into large pots when they first go into dirt. Plants will not hardly grow above ground (apparently stunted) until the root mass has...
