Anyone on here growing using Eco friendly/renewable resources?

I'm still shaking my head and chuckling....REALLY ? In the Organics forum? LOL. Yes, for the most part we make our own soils, use guano/manures and naturally occurring nutrients, some even incorporate Bio-Char. We strive for true organic growing here. I do lots of small plants in small pots...

    miracle grow

Its getting harder and harder to find a "decent" potting mix in stores that doesnt have time release nutes. Danky Supreme is right. One can absolutely get good results from MG soils and nutes. There are far too many well documented MG grows just on this site alone to say different. If you...

    POLL: Where are you from?

For the most part, US, but lots of folk from tbe more civilized parts of the world as well.

    Horse crap

Horse hockey is good shit. Just make sure it is WELL composted (min of 6 to 8 mo, IMHO). Many folks say even longer, and I wouldn't argue against it. The longer the better. If your native soil has good structure, then by all means go with it. Add the composted road apples, some kelp meal...

    1000w HPS OPEN hood distance?

I ran mine between 18" & 24". Just be sure you have good airflow across the tops. You can get to a point of diminished returns trying to get the lights closer. The closer you get, the smaller the coverage area. At 24 you're golden.

    iguana poo compost?

Just out of curiousity, do you have an overabundance of Iguana poo, or are you just looking for something more exotic to add to the feeding schedule? I can't see any harm in it, but from my experience with reptiles, you'd need a lot of iguanas to produce enough poo to matter (or one...

Can you legally grow marijuana in Oregon with a felony?

The way I understand the laws, you cannot be a "licensed" grower that supplies dispensaries, or a caregiver with a felony, but if you are a qualified patient they can hardly prevent you from growing your own meds. You might get put under a strong microscope tho.....I make damn certain I stayed...

Dumb question, perhaps, but…Why is growing bag seed a bad gamble?

Bagseed is unknown, unstable genetics. I grew bagseed my first grow, and learned a lot from it. I even got some damn fine smoke despite myself. It was way better than the pot the seeds came from. I believe that most weed out there is really good weed grown badly. Some damn fine Sativas come...

My seeds from Attitude were seized by customs. Not really "stealth shipping"

True dat Racerboy. Chicago does seem to be on a roll the past few months. Lots of recent threads about seed shipments getting snagged going thru there. I hope Sannies is good about packing them discreetly. I just made my first order ever from a bank :)

    Jack Herer genetics questions

No need to rep, but thanx for the thought. I hope you get what you're looking for. I'm also gonna try out the Selene and Killing Fields. They're supposed to be off the chain as well, but there will never be a substitute for JH in my book! Glad to help.

    Jack Herer genetics questions

Sannies Jack. Stable F-7, I'm told it is from the original genetics, who knows? But it gets rave reviews across the forums. $35 US for 10 beans and it's generally in stock. I couldn't agree more. I was fortunate enough to have had the real deal for several years, and sadly I lost the line...

    nutrients when flowering...

Yeah, that sounds fine. It aint gonna make yer buds any denser or produce more resins, but that sounds like a decent flowering nute. What "strain" are you running?

    nutrients when flowering...

Regardless of "product name", flowering plants need an NPK ratio higher in P and K values and less N. I like around 3-5-3 for a flowering ratio. If "Rhino" has an NPK ratio similar to that, then no it will not be too early. You can feed the same flowering nutrients all the way through, rather...

can i run a 600 watt mh bulb on my 1000 watt magnetic ballast?

I have personally run a 400w MH bulb off a 1k HPS ballast for over a week (just to see). A 600 should be no prob. Do I recommend it? NOPE! But I know first hand that it can be done with an MH bulb and HPS magnetic ballast Do so at your own risk though.

    Advice Needed. SIMPLE COMPOST HEAP

In my opinion, even a couple months is way overly optimistic. Most organic matter will take AT LEAST 6 months to completely break down. If you can still identify the contents of the compost heap, it aint ready. A more realistic expectation would be somewhere between 8 months to a year or more...

    Advice Needed. SIMPLE COMPOST HEAP

You need to be able to turn the heap periodically. A large rubbermaid tub would be preferable. You ought to be able to use the chinchilla cage litter, depending on what the shavings are. Im not sure about the suitability of cedar (if the shavings are cedar). The cedar aromatics may be a...

    New Bug?S

I switched over to Ubuntu 12.04 about 3 months ago, and now for the past few days I am getting this across the top of my screen, just below the browser bar. I am using chrome. I like chrome better than firefox, but this message isn't there with FF. Must be a browser issue? Warning: Declaration...
