The Republican Machine...

I was using YOUR words. How could that possibly be an accusation?

"How do you know it's blind, indiscriminate hatred? Do you know bearkat personally? Do you know what he has, or has not been through?"

"Sounds like you're being unsympathetic and untrusting. For what reason? Have you already prejudged bearkat without knowing his background?"

Because I said nothing to the guy, and you seem to believe that I did! Damn, Bearkat, you have one hell of an advocate.

Well, you're correct in saying that you used my words. As far as the context in which you believe I used them is concerned, however, you are mistaken. LOL. Bearkat had absolutely nothing to do with what I was saying, I said nothing about his background or experiences. In fact, he and I were talking to different folks during the great majority of this conversation. You seemed to randomly pop in under the impression that I had treated him disrespectfully, had resorted to ad hominem attacks, or had somehow otherwise "prejudged" him.

Anyway, for the record, my saying that blind, indiscriminate hatred is irrational was a general statement, one that I didn't explicitly direct at anyone.

From what I've read, you are saying we should look in our hearts and forgive a cop for beating somebody else.

However, not clearly disseminated from thought.

And for the record, this statement on it's own, I agree with.

You will need to bare with me, it's best to clearly explain your sentiments to me, as I'm not nearly as bright as some people here and can't read your mind.

You seem to be very quick to forgive cop beatings and to advise everybody else that we should too. You ignore the fact that cops cover for each other when they commit crimes.

Yes. Regarding police brutality, I'm all for leniency and forgiveness.

No. Actually, I don't recall ever saying anything like that...

I'm for keeping a clear, level head. I'm for keeping emotions in check, as well as conspiratorial thinking.

Many excellent points have been raised here. I've contributed my two cents...

We're starting to move in circles.....

Well at least one of us thinks you contributed. Police brutality is a crime. Pedophilia is a crime. Are you all for leniency and forgiveness for Pedophiles?.

You have the reading comprehension of an adolescent. I was being facetious.

And pedophilia? Are you serious? Of course it's alright. If, upon asking the baby if it wants to party, it smiles and shakes it's rattle, then it has obviously provided consent.

Alright, bud, the above is sarcasm. It doesn't serve as a direct means of conveying how I truly feel, but the overwhelming majority of folks will be able to know where I'm coming from based on the tone.

Care to discuss the merits of necrophilia? What other random, irrelevant pseudo-intellectual concerns would you like to throw my way.

Look, you say we should forgive and forget police brutality. I ask you should we forgive and forget pedophilia too? I'm all for not forgiving and forgetting either. Toss them in prison for the rest of their lives. What about you?

Ok, look....

This comment: "Yes. Regarding police brutality, I'm all for leniency and forgiveness."

That was a sarcastic preface to the rest of my post. It was not meant to be interpreted literally. I'm sorry for not making that more clear. It can be a little difficult to effectively use sarcasm via text.

As for racist, violent cops and child molesters, they're a waste of flesh.

So forgive the crime of beating somebody and enforce other crimes. Again, what you are saying is "forgive those that beat other people". What if it was your son that was hauled out of a car and beaten all for the crime of having one tail light and being stopped by a cop that was having a bad day? Would you be so willing to forgive the cop for paralyzing your son by inflicting life-long back injuries?

Nice use of emotive language. That, coupled with this false notion that I somehow sympathize with dirty cops, is the only battered leg on which you've left to stand.

Look, the whole reason I got involved in this conversation was to say that some cops aren't pigs. Some cops want to help other people, and their desires aren't contingent on a victim's skin color.

Some cops are simply skinheads with a shiny badge. Am I defending them? NO. (For your benefit, I will say once more - NO, I DON'T CONDONE THE VIOLENT BEHAVIOR OF MILITANT, RACIST COPS).

And, like I said earlier in a post that you may or may not have read, the corrupt lawmakers are at the root of the problem, for they make matters such that the cops who are dumb, racist, and violent have a convenient outlet for their hate.

And your "brotherhood of silence" idea makes a lot of sense, although I'm sure the extent to which it is true varies wildly depending upon several factors. But, I'm afraid the "brotherhood" will always exist. Sociologically speaking, it's very similar in nature to the Marines or some other organization where loyalty to comrades is highly valued and the real possibility of death is always fresh on the mind.

The issue goes much deeper than cops. But go ahead, keep thinking all cops, regardless of, well, just about anything, are to be hated.
