The Republican Machine...

C`mon man, What is it ? Is it the pants on the ground ? Maybe the gangsta rap ? Something is attracting cops to Blacks.

Now say it kat,...It`s the skin color......ellipses. But you`re not a baiter racist....Correct ?

Could it possibly be that cops oppress particular groups of people more than other groups? Or maybe the cops are looking for problems in particular areas of their jurisdiction?

Proffessional confirmation bias?

Yes, that`s a proven fact. Yes they sure do look at the tagged areas a lot. Firemen always seem to be at fires too.

That might be the case for some. Speaking for myself, I don't prejudge anyone. My aforementioned comments were metaphorical, in that if I were a prejudice person that is how I would exemplify my opinions of police officers.

On the other hand, I am able to put myself in other people's shoes and view it from their perspective [better than others] I suppose. So in this instance, I can sympathize and understand where bearkat is coming from. Which is why I was trying to be clear in distinguishing from racism and prejudice.

doublejj - it almost sounds as if, based on limited knowledge, you are prejudging bearkat's reaction to law enforcement. the very thing you are calling "ugly" and "racist".

Sounds like Bearkat has had to endure some terrible injustices. That I don't doubt. However, your staggering capacity for empathy and obvious affection for the guy notwithstanding, prejudice is what facilitates racism. Perhaps, as many have pointed out, it is justifiable in many instances, as is probably the case with Bearkat. But don't sugarcoat it with euphemistic terminology.

Your analogy fails big time...

Fireman go to fires, where there is a fire they are needed.

Police, using the same analogy, would only respond when they were needed, and with force necessary to extuinguish the flames (crimes).

In actuality, and following along with your shitty analogy, police respond to fire with an accelerant and then after they've qualled the flames (killed a citizen) they lie about the origins of the fire (crimes).

If fireman actually did this (add accelerant and lie), they would be ostracized. Why haven't/aren't police held accountable for their actions and behavior (manipulations, lies) while on the job? Like the rest of society is held accountable for their actions... Jeez, i learned that before i could tie my shoes, i'm responsible and held accountable for my behavior, especially when it affects others.

I`m sure your comparison to my shitty anology using cops, happens.

So tell me then, why would a cop stay away from crime ridden areas ? Should they have to wait till the crime goes down ? Stay on station like the firemen ?

Look I live in the city, I see the same shit happening with Whites, Hispanic, Asians, and Blacks. In my particular block, Asians are the street trouble 80% of the time, over in the other blocks West, it`s the Blacks out on the street creating trouble. The area is smaller and sees more trouble. Down there, you`re a victim first. People would complain if the cops didn`t patrol those areas.

Now I`m sure down South things are reversed, and over on the West coast, things are blended, up North it`s few in between,.....You can`t just pick one area and say that holds true everywhere,...it don`t,...areas with trouble contain trouble makers,....I used to be one.

My analogy is fine, Cops are to crime as firemen are to fires and doctors are to the ill.

When you keep score like Kat, whoever is in the lead, is not the bad guys, they are Black first.

If anyone else keeps score, they`re bad guys first.

Kat`s approach toward police brutality invites violence because it`s designed to.

Not the way I would go.

How many unarmed Asians are the cops killing on your block?

The problem with your logic is that police hold a power that others in this society do not. By vesting police with the power to use deadly force, they are given the mandate to stop crime and keep the peace. When "the terrible actions of a few officers" occur and through their criminal acts they harm the very people they are supposed to protect, what are the "good" cops doing to stop them?

It is arguable that in some regions of the country, the "good cops" are outnumbered by "bad cops". Especially racist cops in large swaths of the south.

There is a brotherhood of silence that prevents self correction within the force. So, to answer your question, yes, the actions of the few stain all members of the force. Don't trust the police.

You make some good points. It should be noted though that a police force of some kind is necessary. This goes without saying. Blame the corrupt lawmakers, the whoring politicians who have anything but the best interests of this country at heart. Blame the broken system that has allowed the militant, authoritarian, two-digit-IQ type cops to commit such violent acts. But to promote hostility toward all cops (not saying you do, but this seems to be the case for some I've noticed), as if they're inherently wicked for having picked the occupation, doesn't make sense to me. Call me naive, but I do believe it is possible for good people to enter law enforcement and continue to be, well, decent people after years on the force. I also believe in personal accountability and responsibility. And because of those cops who don't abuse their powers, I will not pigeonhole all blue suits into "asshole" category.

I don't want to be "summed up" by others based on one measly aspect of my life, so I try not to do this to others.

For your "good" cops:

The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing

The people to blame are the criminals that perpetrate the crime of police brutality. Next on the list are their co-workers for looking the other way.

It's a crime to conspire to protect people that commit a crime. So, if corrupt and vicious cops are tolerated on the force then the whole force is complicit in the crime.

I think a go softly approach has been tried long enough. How about zero tolerance?

Ya, if there`s ten cops in the whole force.

Mostly all true statements.

It's more simple than that though. doubejj labeled bearkat as a police racist, I argued that is not possible. I went on further to explain that bearkat may be police prejudice, justifiably. And then concluded with the idea that prejudice can be justifiable, and racism can never. That is the clear distinction, along with the fact that racism is based on race, and police aren't a race.

No need to over think it.

Wow. Really? My last interaction with Bearkat was yesterday evening, very early in the evolution of our current discussion. Things certainly never got personal. Please read carefully before making accusations.

I was using YOUR words. How could that possibly be an accusation?

The ironic part of reading this tread is that there is little doubt most of these hard talking fuck the police guy's will be the first ones to roll over on their partners as soon as the shit goes down & they slap the cuffs on.....and if that don't work, they will be all over the CO's leg like a puppy dog as soon as they hit the tier "Uh, Mr. officer Sir, there is a bad man in my cell"...
Edit: PC yards are a different kind of hell:roll:
