Should the Ten Commandments and Prayer Returned to Public Schools?

I was not criticizing, that's why I suggested elective high school classes, kids that are interested can take them, parents that freak out can keep their kids away.

The Ten Commandments

Exodus Chapter 20 verses 1-21

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, “speak to us have God speak to us or we will die.”
Moses said to the people, Do not be afraid, God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from doing wrong.

The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.


The Greatest Commandment

Matthew Chapter 22 verses 34-40

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law tested him with this question. “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.


My summary: “Love thy neighbor as you would want God to love you”

Astrology can be a sceince when you take the false prophets, and/or precuctors, as in fortune tellers and false horoscopes out of the formula.

I just think it's hard to take the bible seriously, it's such a joke.

Just look at that thing about idols and then walk in a church, what do you see? Jesus hanging off the cross, in my neighborhood that's an idol.

I like to pick religion apart, I can't help it. Notice how he won't answer me? He has no argument, especially about that idol thing. If churches are known for anything it's having idols of jesus and mary everywhere.

I was raised in a religious household and I found the whole thing hypocritical at the very least. Thou shalt not kill but if your neighbor plants 2 crops in the same field your duty is to stone him.

Thou shalt not commit adultry, but there was some chick who had a baby for some other woman by her husband. Now there wasn't any invitro back then so they would have had to knock boots to get that kid, more than once I'm sure. Now having sex with another womans husband is adultry, it doesn't matter if you are trying to have a baby to give to her.

The devil is nothing more than something for people to blame their shortcomings on. It's doesn't matter what your sin is, you can just blame the devil, promise to repent and off you go. Why even go through the charade?

The ten Commandments are a great foundation to build on!! God and Religion are another thing! God is the only one who got it right, When Moses asked him what is your name, Who do I tell them sent me!! ""I am who I am""..

God is Love!!! What is love ? Everything, You me, the trees the stars the animals the hair on your arm.... What is the opposite of love? Nothing..... Give Him a name and you get what we have here today! Failure to communicate..

Take care of the Earth and everything in it and we would have so much that we wouldn't need from each other, We would do because we wanted to and eat and drink not because we thirsted and hungered but because we liked it and it was good.....

The bible if anything teaches you that with hope and faith in something you can overcome anything, Whatever you believe in whomever.At the very least it gives you hope!! Why not give our children that..

I personally dont think our forefathers had Church and State separated the way the Country has it..I think they meant to keep Church from running Government as the Catholic church did for so many years..(Dark ages, Crusades, Etc.).. What happened in the sixties was a form of oppression and somewhat of a turning point in the way the Country has gone.. To say this Country wasn't Founded on a belief in God or a higher power is shameful and ignorant..We are a Country founded on a Firm Belief in a Creator and in giving thanks to him.You can see it in the words of the Constitution, On the walls of Government and Public Buildings and in every city and every town in this Country, In the Form of Churches and Religious organizations!!

I hear you miss- I went to a private Christian school from 1st till 6th grade- many of these church goers are very hypocritical.. but you can't judge a religion just by it's members.. I however found the Bible to be contradictory in itself, and the blatant edits over the centuries just made me turn on structured religion quickly.. I enjoy studying all religions as most every religion has common underlying lessons and beliefs, I choose to follow those and my inner voice. Be a good person, and you will be rewarded.

see, people just make things out to be metaphors or symbolism when its convenient to their argument...was noahs ark a metaphor or did that really happen, was goliath a metaphor, or was he really a giant...whos to say the whole bible isnt a metaphor? YOu can make the bible say or mean pretty much whatever the fuck you want if you try hard enough
