Judaism is traditionally passed down through the matrilineal line. There are some characteristics of race, just not the ones normally associated with physically features like dark skin or epicanthic folds.
I heard an interesting take on Jewish people being different recently, not sure if I believe it; Jews have been persecuted and even killed for many generations, so by now the Jewish 'race' is smarter than average. The line of reasoning sounds much like making a bacteria drug resistant by repeatedly exposing it.
It's an interesting thought because it would mean that Jewish people are indeed smarter than average.
