Rifle.

But get this shit, its illegal if it LOOKS like a military rifle.

Seriously, this country is run by fucking retarded people.
Sorry, I thought rifles were illegal. You need special permission to own a rifle, I suppose?

In Minnesota, there's certain areas where rifles can't be used, you need to use shotguns with slugs.

Oh, I see. So you think he is a liberal?

The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilised community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others.
I'm sure John Stuart Mill would be right there with you on that. Borrowing further from a general definition of liberalism, "Individuals are assumed to be capable of using reason and taking rational actions in pursuit of their interests."
Yup...he sure was rational in his actions. No attempt to communicate was made, just foot on steps, BANG! "You're dead"

MEANWHILE, back in your neck of the 'hoods, we can look at general points of note in conservative ideology, to see if there is any relation to this incident. The primary contrast coming from classical conservatism is in the manner which humans are seen;
"Inherently imperfect with a great potential for evil and a limited capacity to use their reasoning abilities."
Hmmm...so not only does he fit the bill, he also supports that point by demonstration.

Definitely a liberal

Nah, its similar to the application process for a shotgun, but requires a proper safe (Shotgun just needs a locker) and you need special justification for large calibres ie. That they are the only thing suitable for the specified use. Up to around .303 is easy enough for a normal person.

Hopefully they liberalise the laws (that probably seems ironic to an American), I hesitated buying a 9mm Glock 17 a few years ago, had other more pressing concerns at that stage of my life and when I looked back into it...it had become illegal :(

Wow, they are all up your asses with gun regulations.

This is why we fight like crazy when they try any type of regulation here. Once they get one regulation its on to the next and then the next, and it NEVER stops. If you give a mouse a cookie......

I'd love an AR15.

I'm pretty sure I could ensure it doesn't go off by itself killing people too.

Oh, and the licences I mentioned before?

Decided ENTIRELY at the discretion of your local police superintendent.

I can understand that, when in a heavily wooded and populated area, an errant rifle shot can go for quite a ways and hit unintended targets. Slugs peter out at around 200 -300 Meters.

I'd love to try out slugs some time...

God damned do-gooders.

Probably wouldn't be great for home defense tho, do they penetrate walls?

This would be totally illegal and I would never recommend doing anything illegal, BUT...its easy as pie to get a AR-15 lower receiver on the private market for around $160-$200 and have some American relative send it to you by post. Then you can just mail order all the rest of the parts online. Learn to Bump Fire and you got yourself a full auto weapon.

The mags would never make it :(

I like a bolt action rifle. Much more accurate. No real need for semi auto in a rifle.

The size of bullet the ar uses is rather small. Not suited for killing much bigger than a coyote. Although they can take a deer, I wouldn't go deer hunting with anything less than a 243.

Yeah, most Semi Autos aren't going to be as accurate as a bolt action. Most. My LR308 shoots 1/2" groups at 300 meters though. 20 rounds in a mag with that kind of accuracy means nothing but heads shots out to 600 meters. Shoots a real man killer, the .308 Winchester. Thing weighs 18 pounds though so not good for doing alot of movements.

I'm just starting my research into a small revolver for CCW. I'm thinking one of the lightweight .357mag models that have hit the shelves. Anybody have experience with any of them?

I would have found out who the thieves were, waited until winter, then hit them with my plow truck.
