That is perfectly normal, when old hair turning brown, new white one will grow. There are always a mixture of brown and white hair on the buds at late flowering stage. right up to the time you harvest it.
13w bulbs are too low, need higher wattage for better intensity, I have a home made reflector with 6 bulbs (mix of 20w warm and 25w white) I think that is a minimium for 2 plants.
You will often see 5 leaves on young plants , then on the higher node, you see 7 and ++. Some people were so sure it is genetic but I say it is the condition in which that part of the leaf grow up. If you are using HID it is not supprising to see 11, even 13 blade on the top leaves.
You can add a few CFL as side lighting and filling in the missing spectrum. Alternatively, why not have the HPS light on during the day where there are less heat differences.
It is a hermaphrodite, happens when the plant went under serious stress or from some feminized seeds. If you decided to keep it, you can just cut off its balls and keep an eye out for them, otherwise it will fertilize itself and other plants around it and they will produce seeds.
I don't know much about NFT, I used aero, dwc and drip. The advantage of soilless grow is that the nutrient is available in abundant 24x7. You probably will get more than 1 oz per plant with a 400w HPS. It is very hard to say without any picture. May be a NFT expert can tell you more.
Just wait another week you will see the second burst of white hair grow and the buds get fatter. Your plant don't look big so there won't be much left if you take some now. Get a 30x (+) magnifier and you will see the buds much better, they are not machines that you can just say the exact...
yeah, well, this place people look and many are looking for advices too. The chicken wires has very small hole it may became much restrictive when they stretch some more, but all in all good effort, I like to see a man making things work with house hold items.
I hope you mean the plant itself, yes they do grow more vertically after the first few white hair. They always stretch during the first 1-3 weeks of flowering.
There are PC fan speed controller you can get on ebay, pretty cheap they just lower the voltage but they works. You need to drill holes on the opposite side of the fan so air flows from one end to the other, Holes big enough to let plenty of air though, If you drill at the side the closer end...
I have seen many of these threads and also I am talking about "DRYING". I know how the "normal" way to dry and cure, I am talking about alternatives, techniques people use that is not just hanging the buds for 2 weeks.
Firstly give it a bigger pot to grow roots, you should use pots that does no pass light or the root would be shy. You can try top it and it will also encourage lower branches grow. You don't really want branches from the very bottom because they will not get much light when you flower them.
That LED grow certainly is good but he is using 360w of LED. much more power and expensive. No way would I drop the CFLs, I grow for my personal use, not to prove LED to anyone. I will leave that job to people who has more resources.
JN811: Yes I made the drip system myself, its pretty simple...
90w UFO LED red/blue + 4x 20w CFL. They are on a drip system with coco. Ionic Bloom, Boost +other bits and bobs. The strain is Chrystal from Nirvana. Pict taken at day 54 from 12/12.
Harvest soon :D yum :bigjoint:
I don't think many people has tried, but they can be hard to clone at that size and also the cutting will have a hard time to get enough water to keep so many leaves alive. It will probably work if you are a expert in cloning and has the perfect environment for it.
