What is the advantages to NFT over soil?
-Faster growth, better taste, higher yeilds. Honestly these all depend on the grower. If you know what you're doing and you have many grows under your belt using NFT, you will get better results than from soil, in my opinion.

Can someone give me the basics on how to do a NFT grow?

I use aeroponics, a version of NFT. Just think instead of the drip or flow you would have maybe 8 spray heads spraying a mist of water/nutrients on the roots of your plants every so often. I run mine at 1 min on/ 5 mins off constantly so the roots have plenty of time to get the mot amount of oxygen they can before getting another dose. It seems to work out great.

-I'd say 4 plants for that light would be great. You could possibly fit one more comfortably. If your going aeroponically the whole way through then I'd say under a 400 watt you'd get more than what you're thinking
