Plants wont die, but they will struggle if your temps are 80+ and the humidity is 30% - espesh when they are young. Tbh, low humidity is so easily fixed it's worth doing so - just buy a cheap humidifier for like 15 bucks and hang some wet towels in your grow room and you'll be at 60%+ no problemo

I'd recommend going 20/4 if you're using CFLs. I read a post on another forum where a guy tested all the photoperiods and found 20/4 to be the best. People go 18/6 mostly to save money, and that wont affect you as CFLs are much cheaper to run than HID

get a mh - it will give you denser plants with closer node spacing

I have my air pump sitting on a cushion, this has helped dramatically. If you've got the time n money you could sound proof your cabinet with acoustic foam (pretty cheap off ebay). Search in the grow room design forum mate, that's a whole massive thread there dedicated to sound insulation

imo, always take the HID lights over CFL mate - you just cant compare the two when it comes to light intensity + penetration. if you're gonna invest in a cooltube mate, get a 400w lamp instead, or even a 600w if you get a strong enough fan. It's defo possible in that space.
