    1k hps to close??

I've had lamps that close. No big deal. Watch for bleaching though - slower onset than burning/canoeing and sometimes it's hard to tell with the naked eye. Take it out of the light every once in a while and check. If it looks right it is right. Right?

    It's A Fuct World

Automation seems hard, probably because it actually is hard. I was looking into building an arduino-controlled pH doser but when I realized how much time I'd have to spend learning the language, finding the actuators and sensors and stuff, learning how to build it, building it, testing and all...

    Clone Problem...

Most likely an N deficiency. Is it affecting the lower fan leaves first? I get that sometimes when my cloning area is too cold and it slows down the rooting process.

Nasty goo in the reservoir...what is it!?

I've had that coagulating on my airstones when I didn't bother to use h202 for a week or two. I too am curious if anyone knows specifically what it is. But hey, slime is slime, I got rid of it by putting in new airstones and blasting my rez with h202 again.

    It's A Fuct World

Hey Al, just another grateful reader here. Would that we had more like you. Couple questions: Did you get a noticeable improvement in yield from the fytocell vs rw? Don't you get bored doing the same technique all the time? I realize there's a certain satisfaction in striving for perfection...

Adding light to reach shade under canopy or clone?

Hey there. You'll probably be better off just taking some clones because in my experience low-intensity lights aren't going to give you very good quality buds anyways. Better some nice top colas four months from now rather than a few fluffy buds in eight weeks. Yeah, fuck side lighting. What...

Go Obama I Feel So Safe

I dunno if this will be much help to you guys but if you're concerned about your anonymity on the internet there's the TOR project. You can surf fairly safely with that if it is a bit slow. There's also freenet and a few other anonymous internet-based things that aren't the standard world wide...

What Am I To Make Of China?

And people wonder why the average American isn't know for his civility or wit. Also, I can't believe you just stuck "crotch" on the end of my username. Can't you come up with anything better than that? It doesn't even make sense. It's not helping you much in Afghanistan is it? Seven American...

What Am I To Make Of China?

Well, Americans launched the first stealth bombers. So I guess Americans had really really bad intentions. I don't see what you're trying to get at here unless you're just sort of having a cry that the American century is well over. I guess we'd all better get used to that - things are going...

Best medium for Flood and drain SOG

Small cubes in hydroton is a standard process. As for the plastic idea, I've done both covered and uncovered and didn't notice much of a difference as far as root development, but then again I covered everything up with hydroton anyway to keep the cube stable. Don't worry about airflow though...

    Grow Room Exhaust

Lookin' good, but what's up with that perforated bit? Is that to keep plants from escaping the night before harvest? Good idea if so... wouldn't want the cops knocking on your door saying "we found these girls down by the highway and they said they were yours..."

    Need help 11x11 grow area

Hey, I was just thinking of a setup similar to yours. If it were mine I'd fill both rooms with lights (4 each room I guess) and run them on a flipflop. I'd have two 500cfm canfans blowing 24/7 between the rooms - it's a good setup to minimize day/night temp differences which will in turn...

    List of hydro noob mistakes:

    - Make sure the overflow on your flood table is at least the capacity of your inlet . If the overflow is too small you may as well not have it at all. - If it looks wrong, it is wrong, regardless of what you've read. I still do this all the time. Getting better though. Hydro just isn't...

    Humidity problem.

If you want to be really cheap take some drywall, cut it into 1/2" cubes, put it in the oven for an hour at 200ºC. Get a big heap and put them in your room. They're a powerful desiccant. Put in a fresh batch when humidity starts to rise. Be warned: you need a lot.

    rock cubes and clones

I've done it just for kicks. You save space but lose time when you cut them - tiny plants don't like root pruning and it slows them down quite a bit. But I don't think many people grow three or four in such close proximity, they chop the blocks. It's really a technique for doing large volumes of...

    $1,500 fan, anybody?

I'd buy it and build a micro-growbox out of it. "Oh, that? Just a decorative 16" fan. Pay it no mind." If only I had as much money as I have wit.

650 cfm exhaust fan enough for this set up?

Your room is 1200 cubic feet. The general rule of thumb is CFM = rm volume x 1.25. However, you can get away with less depending on the difference in temp between your intake air and your exhaust air - if you're sucking ice-cold -10ºC winter air you could probably get away with a 450CFM. Where...

Rude advice from somebody who doesn't care about your feelings - hydro only

Hey Japanfreak, got a question for you. I use 35% h202 in my reservoirs at 1.5 ml/l. But sometimes I use more. What's the upper limit? Ever cook roots with the stuff? Also, did you ever do hydro outdoors?
