12/12 from seed is more conducive to Sea of Green than SCROG. The idea with SCROG is letting your plants veg more(under 18/6) so you can feed them through the screen, allowing you to grow tall plants horizontally. Depending on strain, your plants may only grow to be 12" if doing 12/12 from seed...

I was in your position a while back and I decided to challenge myself and put something together on my own. What I have now is superior to the models I was looking at, including the Cool Cab. If you're determined to not go the DIY route, I would go with one of the models that BC Northernlights...

Welcome. I would use a series of CFL bulbs(the spiral ones). About 100W(total watts, not equivalent bs)should suffice. If your plant is a male, it's worthless. Get your learn on using the GrowFAQ. Make sure you watch your temps. Ideal temp is between 70-80 degrees.

Heat will be a problem, but hopefully your fans will take care of it. I recently completed a project of my own where I have 2 plants growing in a 30gal trash can. I have a total of 126W of CFL's and even though they put out less heat than HID lights, there's still enough heat to pose a problem...
