I gotta lose those waterfalls. HELP!

Tap is fine... Hell some strains will easily root just stuck in a glass of water. I clone in peat pellets. The key is to prevent air pruning so the roots need to stay moist, the root temps ideally to be about 72-74 higher is ok because there is little o2 demand so yours are fine. I use air temps...

I gotta lose those waterfalls. HELP!

You can try but I think it just may have been the way the cutting was taken or it's overall health when taken. I take you know what your doing with clones since the rest are fine

I couldn't agree more... My wife used to bitch about my waterfalls and trickle filters for some of the tanks I used to have.... For me the sounds is peaceful as all hell. Hell I even built an underwater waterfall in my very last tank. Not that it made noise it was just cool af to watch

Guys I'm by no means saying waterfalls aren't good... There are however there are a lot of bogus claims about them. They work and work very well that's not even a question.

    Leaves sagging slightly in DWC

It breaks down to fast... Acids break down at different rates. Phosphoric and sulfuric being the most stable, nitric a bit less and citric is poor. Basically it's organic and bacteria will consume it... This is how alcohol is made You can test this yourself bit I can look for some data if ya...

That's a ph buffer issue neither waterfalls nor airstones should cause ph to rise. If it does then whatever system is not rising is not exchanging gas as effectively

Ph raising is off gassing CO2 if water has good aeration with either system it's should never be an issue as it will try to reach equilibrium and CO2 is bith easily absorbed and off gassed, oxygen is much more difficult so if you have decent gas exchange for oxygen then you have many more times...

Depends.... If CO2 concentrations are higher where the air is taken from.

Waterfalls are great and they work but the notion the grow bigger healthier plants and prevent root rot and allow using higher temps is just plain bullshit. They do have some advantages like noise reduction. Maybe easier to clean. Less replacement of lines sure but let's be real here

This statement is rediculous... The bacteria is in the air no matter what and WILL be in contact with your water and waterfalls.

This is the bias I'm talking about. Who doesn't clean thier airstones in peroxide or bleach .. would you put your dirty nozzles back in a system. Honestly noise will be better but growth will be no different than if using a proper airstone and pump. No different than using underated water pump.

I think dual system is overkill but that's not a bad thing. 18lpm and sprayer you are 100% covered and have not a worry in the world if one fails. I would say that's about as ideal as it gets even if it's not necessary.

Like I said benefits to both. If your pump clogs or dies in a system with waterfalls you have very little time to react. If this happens in a system with air pumps they can run for days like that if not weeks the only issue will be the plants depleting nutrients

I GOTTA LOSE THE AIR PUMPS! HOW?! Plus my awesome mini DWC :)

I agree that's definitely a benefit to waterfalls... Cleaning airstones is maintenance bit if you run them properly sized this is much less of an issue and should never be an issue in the period of one grow
