    germination

Most people I've seen put the cube in growing medium. I personally try to avoid mixing two mediums with different water retaining propperties, so I'd germinate straight in medium with just a small piece of rockwool to help keep the seed in place untill it has enough roots to suport itself.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Sooo much reading. Thanx :) One more update. It's about hour 35 and my tea smells less earthy and kind of like fresh bread. Is this OK smell? EDIT: Some foam is starting to collect where the water surface touches the bottle edges. All looking good for now. If this does not work as a bacterial...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Yes, ofcourse. I'd use sterilizers just when something bad starts hapening to kill everything and give bacterial culture in the res a fresh new start.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Ah, I see. I'll look for it then. I know sodium is not wellcome near plants, but this is strong stuff. It's dosage is 2g per 1000L (0,03g in my res).

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Thank you. No faom yet, but the film is there definately, all over the airstone and at the botom. Unfortunately I'm not from US, so I have limited access to prducts you guys have available. I can only get my hands on some 3% H2O2, so I might add 100 mL of that in a 4 gal res. . I'm also...

    UC/RDWC water level?

I don't have much personal expirience but as far as I can see, general concensus is 1 to 2 inches below the botom. They say plants need that extra air to mantain optimal gases exchange.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Update: New batch of tea, new recipe about 0,6 gal. of RO water 40 mL EWC 7,5 mL (about 6,5g) brown unrafined sugar (I figure that will be as close to molases as I can get for now) half a scoop of great white Poured in a plastic bottle and put in a bucket with a heater and a thermostat. Temps...

was out side mowing the grass,2 cops

So cops come to your house without a warant and basicaly tell you they suspect you of growing? If I were you, I'd imediately go inside and destroy all my plants (schred in a blender, cook in strong bleach, mix with some other highly oxidative reagent, flush with shitload of water), disasemble...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Yep, thats my conclusion also. So, I brew untill I get foam and slime on my airstone to make sure everything is used up?

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

You think once a week res change is too often? So what would in your opinion be a clear sign that sugars have been used up and tea is ready for use? I've read about biofilm and foam, but have also read others saying both of these are things that don't always show. What temp would be ideal for...

    NaDCC for slime prevention

I recently come by a report (http://plant-tc.cfans.umn.edu/listserv/1997/log9711/msg00145.html) about sodium dichloroisocyanurate and its use as a less phytotoxic alternative to sodium hypoclorite (bleach) as a sterilizing agent for tisue cultures. It is a chemical that, as I understand it...

    Advice

Try changing the nutes and check the sticky topic about Heisenberg's microbe tea. If you can get it fast, you can also try buying some benneficial microbe product like great white, mycogrow... and adding it straight to fresh res.

    Changing dwc resevoir

Best solution I've seen for SCROG is to elevate buckets on something at least the size of the bucket itself. When you change your res, you just push whatever bucket is standing to the side and lower the bucket to the floor, leaving the plant hanging in the air. If it has few developed branches...

    Advice

Looks like brown slime. Check your res temperature (65 to 70F), make sure infected plants are geting enough air (they say watt per gallon), wash away the snot from the roots giently with water (hand sprayer does the trick), put it in a clean bucket (and clean stones and everything) filled with...

What do you mean? Isn't addding microbe tea every 3 days a recomended preventive routine?

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Ok, problems in paradise. Yesterday was day 3 of my plants in a fresh res. I checked the roots (white healthy and growing nice), adjusted pH (form 6 to 5,5) and added some freshly brewed tea. Today I check pH and find it at 4.3. I find pieces of white snot floating in the res, and roots are...

How to setup DWC system for 2 plants (scrog)?

Actually I change buckets because i'm lazy. This way I can prepare fresh res in a clean bucket a day before, switch buckets, and clean old bucket whenever I feel up for it.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

So, if I'm using just a generic EWC and great white (its hard to come by different products where I live), perhaps I should brew with EWC only for the bacteria and add great white directly to the res for the funghi.

    How To: DWC

I was just thinking something similar. How much volume does a well developed root system take? If I fill an empty bucket to the 1 inch from the net pot botom mark and put a plant with a large root system in, will my water level rise much?
