UC/RDWC water level?

Hello:

Noob here. First time grow and post.

I'm setting up a 4 x 8 gorilla tent and was planning on doing a UCDWC. I was going to keep the res outside the tent to help with temps and ease of maintaining and to maximize the use of space inside the tent. But now I realize that I would have to cut the tent for the 2" pipe to flow to the buckets.

So I was thinking about doing it in reverse and pumping from the res to the back of the bucket system and then have it over flow out of two 1" pipes out of the front buckets that are closest to the res. However, if I set the over flow level for these pipes at the 11" high that I would need to get through the tent openings, the bottom of the net pots would be constantly submerged in ~ 2" of water.

So my question is; What's the general consensus on water level in regards to the net pots in an RDWC system? Will this higher water level promote root fungi or slime?

My deductive logic says it will be fine since roots stay completely submerged in dirt most of the time. However, for some reason I am really second guessing myself on this one.

I don't have much personal expirience but as far as I can see, general concensus is 1 to 2 inches below the botom. They say plants need that extra air to mantain optimal gases exchange.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to cut the tent. As much I don't want to.
