DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Photo is not very clear. You have a lot of hairs sticking out from the roots and thats a good thing. I can't see very well whats happening on the root mass to the right. Is it a root mass glued together in brown snot, or is it just a bunch of individual root strains tangled up together? If you...

Enter The Scrog/Scroggers United Post Page

Has anyone done indica and sativa plant grow under the same screen? Since stems are trained to grow horizontaly, I suspect it should be easily doable, but i'm curious about potential problems.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

You got brown slime on your roots or just slimy film on your stones/bucket walls? Did you pui in anything other then inorganic nutes in there? I never heard of anyone having problems with this kind of products. I had a bad batch of tea get everything slimed up, but have used great white...

    warm water causing rootrot

I am, at the moment, cooling my dwc buckets by cool air from outside. I don't know where you live, but if you get temps below 18°C (65F), you should consider trying to vent some outside air directly over the buckets. I have placed some styrofoam directly on top of my buckets (made holes so only...

Using styrofoam for my grow room ??!!!

My box is made of styrofoam. It was a great material to build with. Very light, cheap, rigid enough, easy to cut... It has good heat insulating properties which might be a good or a bad thing depending on the situation. Only problem is that its quite soft so you can't atatch heavy stuff like...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Have you tried witha piece of a dense cloth? Coffe filter will definately filter out all the EWC particles but I'm worried it might filter out other stuff we dont want filtered out.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

No shock. There have been tons of new roots poking everywhere. I might be overthinking the whole thing because all the root slime horror stories got me a bit scared. I'll probably just put them in a clean bucket, wash the airstones and thermometer probe and let them grow.

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I'm not sure if I should, thats why I keep asking a lot of questions :) Roots look fine so no changes is actually what I'm looking for really. It will be 7 days since last change, so it will be my regular cleaning time (my thinking is that cleaning everything often denies nasties most of...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Ok, situation is at the moment as follows. I have brewed some tea at higher temps (22 to 26 C, my thermostat setup is not perfect, it will be better next time). It got nice foam, nice biofilm and 24 hours after adding it roots are OK. Oldest root is a bit brown, but I see no buildup so I suspect...

    First DWC Grow..

I dont' use a chiller. I have an unused chimney, so I have connected it with some tubing to the botom of my box. A fan pulls the outside air and blows it straight at the buckets keeping them cool. On top of the bucket lids I have placed blocks of styrofoam that make a barrier and split my whole...

Have I made a terrible mistake?

Fuck it, hermie. Carefully put your plant in a large plastic bag or wrap it tightly in plastic (reduce all air movement to a minimum so polen spreads as little as possible), remove it and either isolate it in another room or kill it.

    Buckets

I scrub them with a sponge and some antibacterial soap. If I get some buildup I can not remove easily, I use bathroom cleaner.

    distance of air pump

Mine is 18W with maybe 4m of tubing (its on the attic above my box). It would be better if it could be kept closer but its doing fine as it is.

    CNS17 Regimen

Those roots look really nice. There are fifty shades of slimy :) Since you have it only on one plant and only on some parts i'd rule out nute stain and conclude you are having some kind of biological buildup. Have you tried spraying some water over it? If by doing that you see a layer coming...

    CNS17 Regimen

Is the brown stuff just a stain on the roots, or is it slimy brown snot sticking to the roots? If it's the latter, it's brown algae thing. In that case my advice would be to empty your bucket, sterilize the whole system as best you can, wash the roots in a stream of water and let it bubble in RO...

    CNS17 Regimen

I'm not a dwc expert, I'm actually just trying it out myself, but I have browsed through quite a lot of gardening forums, and what I found is that DWC is most prone to root problems, so you want to keep as few parasitic microorganisms in your res as possible. Best way to do that seems to be...

    CNS17 Regimen

How are the roots? CNS17 contains sugars, and I'm very skeptical about adding anything organic to DWC, specially sugars. As you can read in the Heisenberg tea thread, I ran into trouble the moment I by mistake added some sugar to my res. Also, citric acid is both organic (food for bacteria) and...

    Nutes in Seedlings....

I think you are doing OK. Seedlings aparently dont like nutes, but I think you really have to put a lot in to kill them. I grew a lot of different plants I didn't care that much about straight in potting soil that always contains some nutes, and never had them burnt or anything.
