its the fact that they don't give medical benefits, put local and small companies out of businesses, and sell mainly imported crap from third world slave labor countries. they rake in the money while destroying the very foundation that America was built on. wall mart is a prime example of corporate greed.
The fact that your facts are bullshit is the biggest problem here. All full time associates at Walmart have the ability to get health insurance (from the cost of 20 bucks a month on up depending on your needs) The cheaper health insurances have HSA that start with money in them so your first doctor visit and part of the second are free. No lifetime benefit limit - and an out of pocket 10k limit. Part time workers are also allowed to get it after a certain amount of time at the company - 1 year I believe. Have you even thought about looking any of this up? Not to mention free company paid life insurance for all associates, and dental insurance that costs like 5 dollars a month with free xrays once a year included.

If they put a company out of business it is because that business sucks ass. If you sell overpriced items that are of the same quality as walmart you are going to get put out of business. End of story. If you sell gourmet foods and quality items you will be fine and a Wal-Mart moving in next door would even increase your business. Why? Wal-mart doesn't sell truffles and gourmet wines. Wal-mart kills shitty businesses that only existed because there were no other options. You cannot blame Wal-Mart because another business sucked. Do you blame McDonalds when the local restaurants go out of business? No, because no one compares 1$ hamburgers to prime rib.

Imported crap from slave labor countries? DUH. Wal-Mart sells people exactly what they want. 5 dollar toasters and 5 dollar t-shirts. While I agree that this is a serious issue - you cannot point the figure at Wal-Mart, every company sells imported chinese crap. I bet all your grow equipment was made in china, too. You buy chinese made grow equipment because it is cheap yet functional. To pretend every business (whether a mom and pop or target or walmart) isn't doing this is to deny reality. The fact of the matter is you just hate Wal-Mart. PS - do you feel the same about Germany who until the last year or two imported more into our country than China?

Haha - Loser.

Even if you homeschool your kid you still use systems/services which you claim to be independent of.

You think all the engineers who designed the parts which your kid used to build your computer were home schooled? You think none of them had a public education? Same goes for just about anything you use. These systems and services that you "don't use" are integral to our society, a society which like it or not you are a part of.
Before public funded schools parents taught their kids what their parents taught them. If you want to be so theoretical about it and talk of results, start of the beginning. Society owes every individual. The systems and services of society are the result of individuals who weren't part of them - so you can't use that excuse since human existence did not start in society and every service and system is a result of the first person who stepped outside of crawling around eating rats or whatever people did then.

If you don't like Unions get a job a Walmart
It is close to impossible to get fired at Wal-Mart, they have benefits, you know the company isn't going to tank, and the ability to move up as quickly as you like. If you have an issue you can *gasp* talk to your supervisor. The Wal-Mart home office completely sides with associates in most matters. Don't be butthurt but that sounds better than most Unions.

Looks like the whole issue ended as it began. The democrats used a loophole to hide and keep a bill from passing, and the republicans used a loop hole to pass what would of passed if the democrats came and voted no. So it ended as it began and the peoples will was done.

sounds like someone in here really loves their walmart. represent!! lol
I spend more money on beer than I do shopping at Wal-Mart. I just don't see any point in being a liar about things. Wal-Mart is what it is. However, it is obvious that many people hate it just because it is the big dog on campus and not for anything Wal-Mart is doing.

i'm going to teach you a little bit about how walmart operates, it's all legal by the way...

first, they identify a geographical spot for their mega-stores. then they open their mega-store. they identify all competitors. they match any price their competitors publish. they'll sell a lot cheaper than any nearby competitor. they will also sell items at a loss....

how?? they make up the losses from selling one item at below cost by driving up the price of another item. those other items are usually items that are 'sold at walmart', because all nearby competitors went out of business at some previous time thanks to their predatory pricing.

it's not necessarily that the other business sucks, but how can a business compete with walmart if walmart is willing to sell items at below cost, just to attract business long enough that all other competitors go out of business, then they ratchet up the price....

it's a brilliant business model that has left entire communities decimated.......

You are only spouting propaganda. Next you will be telling me marijuana makes you get high and eat your children and causes people to get raped.
Walmart has set prices from their corporate office. They do, however, price match other stores. Most stores do this. Their corporate policy is to only lower it to cost if another store is selling it lower than cost then Wal-Mart lowers it to Wal-Marts cost. The only time Wal-Mart sells things at a loss is big screen TVs and the like so they can draw in potential customers who will also buy DVD/BluRay/Movies/Surround Sound/Cables. Also, they do this on blitz/black friday/day after turkey genocide day. This is the standard business model of ALL businesses and not something just Wal-Mart does. They do not raise prices at store level and the store does not even have the ability to raise prices at the store level. Yes, I said the store cannot even raise prices if it wants to. They can only lower them to compete against another store, for clearance, or if something is going to have to be thrown away(meat, veggies, ect). This is a cold hard fact that I have witnessed and read the policies for, and I know more about the Wal-Mart system than you do about your mom. I also know more about your Mom than you. You basically are just repeating what you have heard and know nothing about. I, however, have first hand knowledge. You can tell your sisters cousins union boss that he is full of shit for me. Have a great day and thanks for shopping at Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart buys from a lot of American suppliers, you cannot blame Wal-Mart because companies Wal-Mart deals with cannot produce products in America at a price the American people are willing to pay. Almost all the food in Wal-Mart is from the Americas (North, Central, and South) with a Majority of it being produced in the United States. Foods are about 1/3 of most Wal-Marts sells.

Where do you all shop that is so angelic? Trade Joes? Owned by Aldi's(German) Target? A less successful French Wal-Mart. Mom and Pops Grocery? They are buying stuff from Wal-Mart and selling it to you at 50% markup.

Rollitup.org has a certain amount of anonymity. I know the company, and the things I say can be researched easily enough. What I say is easily looked up, or I can even copy the documents from the company showing their policies, if you want, I have access to what is essentially their entire company. Lord knows their benefits book is online as well as essentially every policy they have. Why the public continues to listen to Union leaders for information is beyond me. I wouldn't ask for information about my neighbor from another neighbor who has been fighting with him. I know I will get skewed info. The fact that you all believe everything that is spewed without even attempting to fact check it from a neutral party is very disheartening.

just wondering, that's all. and don't include me in "the fact that you all believe everything" etc., etc. I'm just an observer lurking this thread from the beginning and seeing how people talking about walmart has fired you up, I just had to come out of the shadows and ask you a few questions. I read this thread cause it entertains me and that's about it. I have no opinions on the matter.:blsmoke:

back to lurking....

Then you should know they re-wrote the book on inventory management. They were 10 years ahead of their competition. I'm going to have to go back a few pages and see what this has to do with unions....

Governors from 16 states are now attacking Unions.

This has turned into an all out war on what the workers get.

So if I understand things.. No Health care is a conservative ideal, No Abortion rights is a conservative ideal, No rights to collective bargaining is a conservative value and massive wars where we spend 2 billion dollars a week with no way to pay for it but to raise taxes on the workers who have been made poorer, is a conservative value.

Interesting.. Who among us believes this is a good direction for the American People?

16 States now in the fight..

It's happening for real...

Yep. Our wonderful teabagger Governor is out to strip collective bargaining and ending the medical marijuana program. Once again, thank you Gary Johnson for backing her. We sure owe you one. You chose partisan over personal conviction. Just another fucking politician.
