Weed addiction real or not?

So ive been reading(not on RIU) about people claiming to be addicted to marijuana.

They claim "dope-sick-ness" just like getting off of opiates. If you dont understand opiate w/d, look it up on WIKIpedia for the basics.

I find this to be a physiological thing. If you let yourself feel like your w/d'ing you most likely will, especially being in that psychological state of "quitting" anyways.

ALSO these people who bitterly argue that they w/d, i personally believe have had opiate abuse issues, or other opiate issues. cannabinoids and opioids are used by the brain in a similar way. in fact i had an addiction specialist tell me injesting weed before doing opiates, particularly maintenance opiates, can interfere with the way the opiates are recepted.

another thing is that alot of people who smoke weed, smoke tobacco. also alcohol, benzo's and other drugs...

i just find it hard to believe considering ive been smoking for at least 12+ years with only one break of about 3 days. and ive never had any PHYSICAL issues.

any experiences or ideas here? im leaning towards placebo but im willing to hear people out.

as someone who has had opiate w.d and someone who currently uses MMJ daily... (100% off the rx meds) after 22 year of use..
If there is a MMJ w.d it's nothing like opiate w.d I have never been awaken in the middle of the night needing a J.

MMJ will effect each one of us differently.. so I can buy into some folks having w.d symptoms be it real or imagined
the worst part for me about getting off all the meds...was being stupid enough to keep a few extra just in case... I knew they were in the house.. knew the buzz I would get off them after not taking them for so long.. it became a mental mindscrew..

i'm an ex junky, and have been smoking weed for over 20 years now, and there is no real withdrawal symptoms associated with quitting cannabis ..
to those people who think otherwise, i suggest doing heroin for a month straight then quit cold turkey then come back and talk to me about watt withdrawals feel like..

got about 7 months myself! (was on legal rx's but it's the damn same)
imo, those can be worse as a lot of people don't realize the addiction potential as they were given to them from a dr and we all know dr's never get people addicted.. :D

congrats on the 7 months..

however... i just noticed that someone posted a thread about cannabis hypermesis or whatever. it sounds an awful lot like what im experiencing coming off of opiates, and being allergic to carrots and ANY derived product of carrots. i cant even have vitamin water, or any burger king.

weed is NOT addictive. habit forming yes but there are no withdraw effects like other "drugs" have.

I'd like to thank my Dr who told me one or the other... (legal rx's cant be prescribed by dr's if you are using a plant the FDA bans)

I went back about 5 weeks later (my next dr's apt) explained I would not be seeing him anymore since he cant prescribe me MMJ and each mo I had a standing apt with him to pay 75$ per dr visit for him to say ok.. whats your pain level at now.. the week.. the month... etc.. and hand me my script.

The math was there ($250 per mo for rx or about $300.00 per year for growing MMJ)
I lost close to 100 lbs on the rx's I felt like a zombie sometimes.

there are a few folks here who are actively trying to get off their rx pain meds as well..

for real dude.. or even a couple weeks imo. there just isnt ANYTHING worse imo. designer - fentanyl-class drugs' addiction is supposedly the MOST horrible experience possible. they have been rumored to be used in torture, get the person sick and they will tell u ANY thing u want to hear.

I'm opiate free since ~ August. It's a hell of a struggle but SO worth it. You can do it!

A little off topic is just fine to congratulate someone for breaking a real addiction. Im a long time marijuana user and i dont feel any withdrawl, sometimes i smoke every day, sometimes every other day, sometimes once a week. But most of the time at least 4-6 times a week and i turned out ok. Another thing contrary to more addictive substances is that i usually only smoke weed once a day where as when i was on the wrong road or in the bottle i always wanted more. I usually only smoke weed once a day.

all i know is im w/d' ing pretty hard for .5 mg jump of sub. so im a little taken back by the info about the hypermesis... but i was told by my AS DR that its okay to smoke weed while doing maintenence or quitting. just dont smoke right before dosing he said. he even bitched at me for not having my card at the time.

yeah as a past hard core drug user who got off cold turkey theres no weed withdrawal, symptoms like there was when i did heroine, but if there is there symptoms are most likely close to "lack of hunger, being bored all the time while sober, " ....however people can be mentally addicted to anything so mentally yes most likely theres some nut job out there addicted to weed, with humans anything is really possible so to say theres not a single person out there not addicted to marjiuanna i wouldnt chance it, because most likey someone somewhere thinks they are
