Now if you want to take it a step further, Ethos Genetics has a website which details their defoliation method and its as close to what I do as anything else. An excellent article all around....... and probably a bit easier to understand than listening to Rasta Jeff talk til the cows come home.

One more question from me not sure if you can answer it but maybe somebody will come across it with the knowlage to help , is it simple to set up an R/O system for my home grow (50plants in 5galon) ? And would also like to ask if anybody has any recomendations of a simple to install r/o system that would handle the amount of litres i need

Btw im from the uk and the water is very hard and tests at around 260ppms from tap

It's a 4 stage filter, I replace everything once a year. Depending on your water pressure, it will produce a lot of water (and a lot of waste water). The site has whole house filters too.

I live on an old peach farm, my water is terrible with heavy metals and other nasty's and about 360 ppm out of the faucet. After the r.o. device, it's about 20-30 ppm- a big difference. I water with about 20 gallons every 2 days for 24 plants, takes me a few hours to produce what I need.

Whole house systems are not difficult to install, but I would use a plumber unless you are thoroughly versed in plumbing. I'm pretty good at it and still would use someone. You can also consider an under the kitchen sink unit, which would be easier to install. You also have to consider the price of filters, which can be pricey over time. Whole house filters can get expensive, and that is a function of how bad your water is. The worse it is, the more often you'll be replacing them.

With my system, I produce enough for the grow room, and to drink and cook with and nothing else. I also have a water softener and chlorinator. Just depends on what you need and how much you want to spend.

I have no plumbing experience and pretty hard to bring any plumbers or tradesmen in as its not exactly legal here

Il install the under kitchen sink unit , found a few but was worried they wouldnt produce the amount of r/o water needed , il have to take a deeper look into it .

Yes, I hand water everything. I just push branches out of the way to get to the back rows.

Deeper in flowering I start to water daily (but with a reduced ppm) as the dehumidifier tends to suck all the moisture out of the room quickly. But right now, every other day. I tend to not to over water either, so no runoff appears. I don't want to flood my room, and since the fertilizer is organic, it's not necessary to flush. I give them just what they need, and no more.

Tonight I’m planning on giving the entire room a PureCrop1 spraying after lights out. I’ll wait an hour or two after shutting off everything while the rooms cools down, then go in with a green led flashlight and spray the shit out of the plants. I watered well this morning at lights on, this will reduce any plant shock as they’ll be well hydrated. Then by the time lights go back on late morning, everything will be dry. I’ll turn the room fans off overnight, but leave the exhaust fan running to remove any excess humidity. Plants love this stuff, they’ll look great in the morning.

I also performed 3 defoliations yesterday. Normally I’d just pull every plant out of the room and do them one by one. I didn’t feel much like doing that, so I went in at noon, 4pm and 8pm and just removed what needed to be over the period of a day. By the end, it was quite a bit of leaf material.

I friggin defoliated yesterday…..it’s ridiculous. if I had co2, I’d understand but….. this is exactly what happened in my first grow Of it. The leaves just never stopped…….

I think I probably stopped plucking things off around the 3rd week in flowerinyg last time, so, 2 more weeks of this craziness.

one thing that should be mentioned is I use veg fertilizer the first 2 weeks of flowering, so they get enough N built up and don’t yellow prematurely. this probably contributes to the veg growth at this point.

Would you say using the veg feed throughout first 2 weeks of flower gives larger yeilds rather than switching straight over to the flower feed after the transition period ?

That’s not the issue........ I like to keep mine fairly green and healthy thru most of flowering, so I keep the nitrogen up a bit higher than most. If you switch to bloom when you cut your lights back, they’ll yellow too early since bloom ferts don’t have enough N in them.

After week 2, I’ll switch to a veg/bloom ratio of 50/50 thru week 6, than full bloom thru week 8 or 9 depending on when they’ll finish. I basically give everything I do 1 week of flushes and that’s all they need.
