GN Telos 6, 8 or 10 or Sanlight led q6w

I'm looking at getting either of these 2 leds. I can buy both of these panels from my local hydro store. Just has a brutal electric bill. I knew it was on the cards, but £1700 for 3 months. I run seven 3ftx3ft tents with a 400w hps in each, four 15w clip on fans in each, plus the extractor fans approx 50w on 24-0 - 24/7 almost with four tents 21hours on / 3 off.

I grew with led for the 1st 5 years of growing. I love the yield of hps, but am not keen on growing under hps anymore. My place sounds like a factory. I miss the silent extractor fans, also not fighting with high temps and plants that stretch up so far and dry out so fast. I've tried cmh, but had problems with lamps firing up after several power cuts. I've tried quantum boards too, they were ok but I like to spray my plants without the worry of watering and electricity combining. The gn telos panels are waterproof. No moving parts, so very quiet too. I'm not the diy type. Don't really want cobs as I use most of the sockets available for 4 fans for each tent, plus I just want 1 single light each tent. Led growing in a 3ft x 3ft area is a nice way to grow. I have 7 tents, so I don't have to worry about temperature with leds. They are split over 3 rooms.

I'm going to go back to growing solely under led. Interesting thing is I've been growing so long that I now know how I want to grow. I want to grow 1 autoflowering plant in each tent, in coco, in a 5 gallon pot. Feed it once per day. Easy street.

The telos leds are 180w 6 modules £320, 240w 8 modules £420, 300w 10 modules £520. I get 10% off, so will be a bit cheaper. If I cut my electric in half I will save a fuck load of £, so these within a year will easily pay for themselves with the savings made on electricity.

I had a look at the Sanlight q6w in the shop and they look really good, but not so sure they would be suitable for a 3ft x 3ft tent. Maybe 2 in a 4ft x 4ft tent would be better. If I were to have 2 in each tent it would cost too much. £ 450 each, with 10% off. They draw 220w each, so there would be no point using 2 of them in a 3ft x 3ft tent. It would draw the same as the 400w ballast anyway. I like the way the leds are spread out, but it just doesn't suit my tents size.

Please don't accuse me of selling the lights, I'm not. I just want to choose between these leds to get local warranty, so peace of mind. If it brakes, I take it to the shop and they deal with it. I currently spend £130 every 3 months on new lamps too. With my led growing background it's time to go down this road. I had success growing with blurple leds for 5 years, so why not?

Here are the specs of the leds.

No doubt with the telos 10 I would do very well in a 3ft x 3ft tent, but could I use even less electric and use a smaller panel if I'm growing just 1 plant? How far can I push it and still get a decent yield.

It's really difficult for me to judge this even though I have grown for years under led. At the same time I went to 100% 400w hps lamps in each tent, I also went coco and perlite from soil. I'm dying to see what I could do with led and coco coir.

I must reduce the electricity use. I used to enjoy growing more, now it just feels like a full time job. Feeding plants once per day will be luxury.

I guess the question is, is you were rolling with seven 3 ft x 3ft tents, what would you do please?

I'm going to be looking at both of these panels, but currently think the gn telos 10 would be good. I'm so sick of high electric bills though and the fact that each led has to light up just 1 plant means I may opt for smaller panels for some of the tents.

Hey @Fevs.

Here's another alternative to maybe check out.

I believe these are waterproof.
This will grow a plant
They are being restocked at end of January.
Might save you a few bob on the telos 10

It sounds like a nice setup you have running.
I've looked at those telos lights on passing a while back now.
I'l check them out again

A mate of mine was looking at those lights for a 4x8, I was a bit surprised at the price for the umole/joule compared to 2.6 from a QB for example.

Im a plus 1 for at least looking at diyleduk too, especially since he's now selling the aussie high cri highlight boards, I have some of those direct from AUS and from what im seeing and others are reporting they are kicking ass!
I don't want to dis a light just because I haven't seen it in use and its expensive but if I were going to change out 7 tents I would at least buy one and a QB or highlight and do a few runs to help make my mind up before spunking that sort of cash on an unproven light.

Also wondered the other day when you posted about your 7x 400s if you've ever run a 315cmh in one of those tents? You can pick them up real cheap these days, though bulbs are still pricy , don't think they need replacing that often.

Oh im not sure what the recommended coverage is but I find it hard to believe 240w would cover a 3x3 with the stats they are listing.

Didn't hit the gym but I walk the dog 6 miles a day and ride my bike 2-3 times per week. I did go vegan and am still vegan. Somewhere along the line I became an alcoholic, so dealing with that shit now lol. Haven't had a drink since 10 seconds before the new year started. I had a big break from growing. Sat on my weed for 8 months without the lights on.

Hi @lukio It has been a long time. Good to hear from you. Drop into my journal in my signature. You got a journal going mate?

Those par maps or ppfd maps are quite different indeed. The figures in the middle are, but the edges are drastically different. Worryingly different. I was under the impression the gn telos with 1.9umols was the same as cmh. I have used cmh, I bought 4 kits, had several powercuts in the block of flats/apartments, then 2 lamps didn't fire up. Ballasts ran very hot too. Sold them. Shame as I had major success in the 1 and a half grows I used them for. I was using the daylight 4100k lamp with half a doezen plantphotonics 32w Osram far red led panels. In fact that was hands down the best frostiest weed I ever grew. At that point I switched to hps. Mag ballasts. Sold all my Budmaster panels whilst they were holding their value. Saw my old Budmasters again on ebay 3 months later too for 1/4 of the price lmao I pulled in just under £3000 selling the arsenal of led lighting I had.

I can't find a thing anywhere on the internet about gn telos, except for afn forum. Tang gets a telos panel, grows some pukka plants, 90% of other growers buy them and do rubbish with them. I saw one half decent grow until he got bud rot. Strange that there are no journals anywhere except afn with the telos. I don't really get that.

@Moflow Thanks for that info. I will have a look at that. To spend loads more on a lesser amount of light would be thick as pig shit. I will certainly consider this option.

Also, @Fevs. What is this you're saying about not wanting to use COBs because your sockets are already being used? Super unclear what that's supposed to mean.

If I were you Fevs, I'd just order from KingBrite or Meiju through Alibaba a good 28boards and build 7 fixtures using an HLG-320-48 per fixture of 4 boards. Grab some Angle Aluminum, quite a bit of it and build out your frames. You'd go around 2 boards lengthwise with it, then connect 2 of those together for a 4 board setup.
Buy the drivers locally, or at least through an online shop that's on your country for warranty reasons.
You can get boards for damn near $5/PC nowadays. You won't need any heatsinks cause you'll only be at like 80w per board.
Shipping won't be bad either cause boards don't weigh much.

Price break at higher quantities. And never accept their first price. Always haggle.

ah sweet, will check it out. yeah just pulled a load of tents down...some stuff here https://www.rollitup.org/t/lights-camera-procrastination.997504/page-6

im away for a few weeks but i'll be back with a load of new.

Had a mate recently quit a 20 yr booze addiction that really nearly killed him. He micro-dosed mushrooms and swears it was that that helped...maybe give it a google...or use Tor.

Lol I go a bit blind when reading more than 20 words.

and yeah shit idea to go cmh if powercuts can happen, doesn't take much to fuck up a bulb and even the cheaper replacements are £65.

@Fevs. Glad it was you, I thought it was just a random that read your thread and signed up to claim the glory :bigjoint:

I remember you running the budmasters because the slipper bandit was also running them, he was just about to pull the button on a HLG600 last I heard from him but he did a vanishing act and never seen him since.

Hope you keep the pop under control , not a road ive ever been down but seen plenty of my mates go pear shaped, most of which have sorted themselves out now and are back on track.

Giz a shout when you do chose a light, i'l tag along and see how you get on with awt you choose.

I have 7 tents which all have an extension lead with 6 sockets on. I use all the plugs for clip on fans, so wouldn't want separate cobs. I can only plug in one plug, which is the plug where the ballasts are plugged in to. It's just so I can counter any risk of bud rot. 3ft tent with a clip on fan in every corner of the tent gives me amazing airflow in flowering. I've been growing some proper big autoflowers recently too. Got 13 ounces from one auto. In soil I would never get over 4 1/2 ounces from an auto. I'm glad I'm prepared for fighting bud rot. Just not settled on the lights yet. Hps has got to go either way.

It was annoying as I'd say I was dialled in perfectly before the power cuts. Yeah I was the guy that did that thread, just spunked £4000 on leds. lol I did quite like the them, but had a problem with a fan, then he sent me the wrong sized fan, then he never got back to me, then budmaster disappeared and is now cropmaster led. So bollocks to it, I was done then. Sold them before any other faults occurred for a good price. Even now on ebay the used price for Budmasters is so high, just because Budmaster charged so much. It's wierd. Not even the osram models are still going for £450 which is like 2012 tech or something.

You can put as many cobs on a single driver as you could ever want

I would need 4 cobs for that area. Don't they cover around 40cm each, so I would need 4 on a frame? I may lose height from having the carbon filter above a frame holding 4 cobs. I just don't see it. I'm going to be growing in coco in a 20 litre pot in each tent. They may become trees. I'll post some pics of plants a bit later. I'm already struggling for height. Got to walk the dog then going out for the evening to watch 1917 and have a vegan burger.

I need enough light to grow autoflowers like these. Pics taken earlier Day 51 from seed for pineapple express auto's, the white dwarf day 49, which is a bit smaller, I will get 10+ ounces from the pineapple express tents which I have 3 of. I want to maintain this yield. 10+ ounces average, every 8-9 weeks from a 3ft tent when I have 7 of them is plenty of bud for my needs.

Why don't you find some strain you really enjoy that ARENT autos and just keep taking clones so you don't have to keep buying seeds ALL THE TIME. I will never support auto flowers.

[/QUOTE

I can get a shit load of bud every 8-9 weeks without dicking around with cloning, light schedules and all the other crap that comes with growing photoperiod plants. Why would I want to grow something else? So I can veg it to fill then tents? They already are full. I always get compliments about how strong my weed is and the taste of it. The only thing I need to change is the lights. Germinating seeds is no problem at all. I enjoy growing, all parts of it.

Some people veg for a month, then flip for 10 weeks to get what I get with autos after 8-9 weeks. I fill tents in 8-9 weeks maximum, they fill them in 14-15 weeks. I would have a lot less bud if I did that. Also I'd need a veg area. I kept my brothers grimm cinderella elite clone for a while, but photoperiods just take too long. No point whatsoever growing anything else other than autoflowers.

Why don't you like auto's? I'd put my cured Sweet Seeds Trainwreck auto up against any photoperiod sativa. It's a house favourite. In coco she was fed bud candy and lemon terpenez for last 2 weeks. (organic nutes) Got 13 ounces of stunning bud in 8 weeks from seed.

Also I will soon be growing 7 plants maximum, each in a 20 litre pot. Grow 9 or more and you go to court if you get busted in the UK.

Can't be arsed with all the transplanting too. I can feed my plants whenever I want, not just in a 12 hour dark period. I like that.

I want to start growing 7 different strains, 1 in each tent, so cloning would not be good. People just get fucking bored of cloned weed. They want something different every time. I'm thinking fast bud#2 (strawberry diesel taste) Pineapple Express, Trainwreck, White Dwarf, creme mandarin, Sweet skunk and sweet afghan delicious. That would be a nice mix to choose from ey? My lot have it easy. They pick what they want like a kid in a sweet shop. I even accommodate high cbd weed for a friend that hates thc weed. I take requests from the punters if they want me to grow a certain strain. lol I am so sold on autoflowers, as you are for your own reasons on photoperiods/regular plants.
