Look how all the tops are exposed now…..not the greatest pic, but a big change.

In my experience it does help to control the stretch.Does the defoliation stop the stretch in any way or is that just due to the intensity of the light itself and its height from the canopy?
So looking at the pic, I still see some leaves that need to be removed as there are bud sites directly below them. Otherwise, I'm glad I spent the time to make everything right today. This room will look spectacular in a week, I promise.......
I’ve already defoliated a lot already, twice heavily. Now I’ll just remove leaves as they get bigger and block developing buds below. Probably nothing more is needed now.
I use about 15 gallons every watering. With the dehumidifier now on, that will mean watering just about every day. As the plants develop, they use more water so each time I water, the pots are pretty dry. I don’t want drooping plants, but enough dryness will cause the roots to develop better while they search out more water.
I under water if anything..........and remember, you need to cut back on ppm with so much watering going on. I let the plants tell me what they need and how much. Last night I watered with 3 ml cal/ mag and nothing else.....always to 6.3 pH in promix, but that’s just me. You should not let ptomix dryout totally, as it concentrates the salts in the pot too high. After the top 3 inches or so of the pot is dry, they should be watered.
