So, I want to create another journal once I finish this first grow, but I have some questions/need advice on my fungus gnat issue that is brewing in my other tent(s).
It seems like it originated inside of my 3x4 pheno hunting tent. One of the plants is a little smaller than the others, and I think it may have not been totally dry on my last watering or two, I think it's drinking slower, which makes sense.
I put up sticky cards the other day and so far have caught between 15-20 fungus gnats in the tent. I have yet to see any larvae.
I applied a dusting of DE (diatomaceous earth) tonight, which I am kind of regretting now, because I was planning on adding nematodes and hypoasis miles to the soil... should have done more research. With that being the case I am going to have to scrape the top layer of soil off tomorrow before watering...
In another case of not doing enough research; I went and ordered Azamax. After further reading, I decided I don't want to do a soil drench. Maybe I will use it for foliar stuff in the future. Another thing that will kill my beneficials in the soil...
I have some nematodes coming on Saturday, three kinds. I plan on introducing them over 3 waterings so they don't interfere with each other, starting with the ones that destroy fungus gnats. I also have some hypoasis miles coming that should be here next week or the week after. This should have been my first move, I think, as it seems everything else is going to harm beneficials.
I just kind of jumped the gun trying to get ahead of any type of infestation.
It's been a couple days since I first noticed them in the pheno tent, and it seems they've made the jump to my veg/clone tent... I have found 2 on the sticky traps I put in there. Like a dumbass all of those got dusted too, so I will probably have to scrape the top layer off that as well.
What do you guys think I should do moving forward? Any advice? Other than doing more research before jumping the gun... lol.
Oh and I also have some BTi (mosquito bits) on the way as well. I will get these little bastards one way or another. Definitely learning through this process haha.
