I wonder what a seriously fascist 21st century Amerika will look like?
Is it a stable form of government? Not enough have complained so far to change things...
Will it benefit the average citizen? There seem to be a lot of people who think it will, in spite of mounting evidence to the contrary.
Will the use of racism and classism as official tools of propaganda be effective over the long term? The recent resurgence of these attitudes seems to augur well for stability, but there is significant resistance to it.
How long before the regime crashes the economy, again? I think the fragile nature of the current economic situation could see another crash in as little as 2 years and as many as 8.
Will we go to war against some 'enemy'? Shit, we already are! We'll just switch targets when we get tired of the ones we're fighting now. I doubt we'll pick a fight with a major power and in spite of some bluster they aren't at all willing to pick a fight with us.
Will we lose more civil rights? Trend says yes.
Will we lose more coastline? Inevitable. The only question is how much the rate of change will accelerate, not whether there will be more. Other effects of climate change will make themselves felt, and just as predictably, will be denied by the reality TV show in the White House.
