they will never outlive "alternative facts". that one will go down in the history books. and not in a good way.
When Kellyanne said it after 'oh Chuck (Todd) you are being overly dramatic..' she said for the first time in public 'alternate facts' it didn't quite roll off the tongue..there was a brief chuckle but she caught herself..

I don't know who you're winking at, choomer's not here.

I neither said FDR was from the south or racist. You said he was racist, though.
When KKK lynchings were continuing in the 1930's south, Eleanor went down and made speeches to the dumb fucking rebels to try to reason with them. I'm sure FDR asked her to go and appeal to them.

I would agree with you, if you were right...except you're wrong.

FDR was commander in chief over a segregated military longer than anyone and could have easily changed it, it was the murdering fuck Harry Truman that finally did that. Why did FDR keep the military segregated so long when he could have changed it easily ?

Did FDR incarcerate Japanese people during WW II based solely on their ancestry ? Did he incarcerate white people of German ancestry too ? How come?

FDR only signed legislation desegregating government civilian job "opportunities" (now there's an oxymoronic collection of words government job opportunities) after black protesters agreed to stop a march on Washington D.C. and Roosevelt wanted to avoid the bad publicity exposure about how racists America really was would've brought about. Henry Louis Gates wrote an interesting article about that.

1933-1945 wasn't exactly the most enlightened time in this country's history.

He had a fabulous VP in Henry Wallace who openly spoke of civil rights and how the common man should come 1st when the war was over. Unfortunately, the southern racist party bosses dumped Wallace for Truman behind FDR's back while he was sick in bed with 6 months to live.

If you think FDR was racist, what's your opinion of Washington, Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, etc.?

Do you not have to consider the time period? lt took all of congress to pass the 1964 CRA. Do you think any earlier congress would have passed it?

FDR was the champion of the poor and middle class, his support of unions alone allowed me, a generation later, live a prosperous life and accumulate wealth in a relatively safe society.

He made life better, yours too in case you're too biased to notice.

Washington was a fairly bright guy who was able to parlay his wooden toothed smile and big dick into a widow Martha to acquire some property and social status. A good military leader and probably a racist.

Jefferson had a brilliant mind, but was a hypocrite...he owned slaves.

Jackson knew what was up with the evils of a central bank, but was undeniably a racist.

FDR did not make my life better.
He tried unsuccessfully to stack the Supreme court by increasing the number from 9 justices. Perhaps you've heard the term, "a stitch in time saves nine" ? If he had been successful, there is evidence he would have become like his buddy Josef Stalin and incarcerated even more people domestically than he already did.

Careful who and what you worship, often they have feet of clay.

I worship nobody or nothing.

FDR originally promised aid to all the allies after the war, seeing as they were all bombed out and devastated.

If he had lived and gave the Soviet Union some aid, history may have turned out differently and the cold war may have never happened.

Truman was no FDR. The Soviets lost 27 million people in WWII and deserved a little respect at the time.

The Soviet gang boss Stalin and FDR both incarcerated their "own" people didn't they?

At least Uncle Joe Stalin had mock trials for some of the people he sentenced to the gulags. FDR just figured if you were a slanty eyed Jap, that was reason enough to put people in a camp.

I think some people worship government, cuz many of their posts here are really just prayers for government to "do something about X , not realizing they're engaging in substituting government for the traditional super daddy all knowing all powerful god. Replacing one kind of imaginary magical deity with another is all that is, whether people admit or not.

Truman might seem like a decent guy to have over for a beer, but he has the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocent people on his hands, so at best I'd serve him a warm flat beer and ask him to reconsider his murdering ways.
