Most of Europe is swinging to the right, France just elected a Socialist president cos they've such a large cheese eater population now.

Spain has gone WAY LEFT. Wealth is evacuating the country in a hurry. Rich people are moving away from there.

That's because the stomach of their economy was torn out (tourism) plus it was always a little backwards anyways.

Theyll swing back when people start holidaying there again.

In your original post when YOU brought up "brother's keeper" you were talking about President Obama- Rambling about his brother in Kenya or something... You then mentioned one of his most well known quote from his keynote speech that launched his successful presidential run. So any logical person would conclude you were referencing his "brother's keeper" quote. I explained to you what most logical, non conspiratorial people think it means. I also asked you a question--

"
  • I think you have a fundamental misunderstand of what "you are your brothers keeper..." means.. What that quote refers to is- say my house gets searched without a warrant, or my peaceful rally in favor or legalizing marijuana use ends in arrest, or any other situation where my civil liberties are jeopardized- Its your job and everyone else s job to stick up for me and stop my rights from being infringed... Why??? So that it doesn't happen to you! When my civil liberties are infringed upon, so are yours. If they can to it to me, they can do it to you. Understand? I'm sure you would agree to that... Wouldn't you? It has nothing to do with "forcing lifestyles" or "giving help" as in welfare, just protecting what WE ALL are entitled too."

You then respond by quoting the bible and the origins of the term - Brother's keeper....???... What does the bible have to do with what you were talking about? I think you are side stepping the issue. You said "I don't care how you and Obama want to interpret the phrase".... Why do you disagree with it? Do you not think we should fight to preserve our civil liberties? Again... Here is my original question-- I'd love for you to share how you feel instead of sidestepping the issue--

Umm read what I originally wrote, on post #38. I never brought up Obama, it was Freedom I was quoting who did. I bought up bother's keeper to highlight liberal philosophy, which I oppose. Freedom thought I wanted everyone to live like Obama's brother because of my nature comments. So I was being a smart ass like Cain.

Why do you assume it is temporary?
I think its hope more than any real understanding of the crisis Capitalism is in.

These countries have only been able to maintain their standard of living through borrowing and leveraging debt. Its over now.

Obama wants to take credit for bailing out Chrysler, but 55% of the company is owned by Fiat. So isn't that like bailing out Italy?

is community involvement socialism? are churches that work to feed poor and sick socialist?(about the only thing good the church does)? i'm curious. is it socialism to allow Churches, synagogues or Mosques to get away with not paying taxes despite having political agendas, fundraising, tithe and scams throughout?

Churches work on a volunteer basis. The Church doesn't come to your door with a squad of military style troops if you can't or won't pay your tithe. The church doesn't take money from anyone, it accepts it. Religion is retarded, but at the same time there is no comparison. In fact, the churches are an example of the private sector taking care of the poor, sick, and needy.

A new study produced by the Chronicle of Philanthropy shows that 14 out of the top 20 states in charitable giving are red, or Republican states, while 12 of the bottom 15 are blue, or Democrat states.
“The nation's sharp political divide can provide a clue to fundraisers,” writes The Chronicle. “The eight states that ranked highest in The Chronicle's analysis voted for John McCain in the last presidential contest while the seven lowest-ranking states supported Barack Obama.”
The study also found that the more religious states- which also happen to be more Republican- tend to give more than the less religious states.
But wait.
No, no, no: This can’t mean what we think it means.
It can’t mean that liberals are just cheaper than conservatives, despite outward appearances.
We need to cue the liberal social scientist whose job it is to explain to us that the results of the study don’t really say what they say.
