My first CXB 3590 run...

This is the first run with my newly built CXB 3590 light. The tent is 40" by 40" so a meter squared. The light is 8 CXB 3590 3500k cobs at 50 watts each with 2 hlg 185 1400ma drivers. Also have 12 Cree XP-E far red stars for lights out on a LPC 35 700 driver. Genetics are 5 Mandala Hashberry and the 11 others are Peak Seeds KushBerry (Purple Kush x Peaks Blueberry) 4 different phenos, seeing what's what. The pic is this morning after transplant into coco core late last night. The light is dimmed to a little under half power and the transplants are super happy to be out of the diy bubble cloner and into the coco. When I see new growth I'll flip to 12/12, I know this is a different style then most grow here but I have always liked a lazy SOG. Nutrients are Veg + Bloom and some things (Life +, humatic and fulvic acids, Epson salt) added here and there as wanted or needed...

I'll follow along. So you are running 3/2/3 on your COBs across 3 heatsinks. What type of heatsinks are you using? Are they passive or active cooled? Also, please share the spacing you used. Thanks.

I'm using the Heatsinks USA 5.88 profile passively cooled. At a little over half power now even directly above the cob is barely warm. My spacing is based on my build being 32" x 32" for a 40" x 40" tent and wanting to spread the light as evenly as possible with 8 cobs. On the bars with 3 cobs one in the center and the other 2 are 14" each from the center. The middle bar has the 2 cobs 10" from the center so 20" apart. I move my plants each watering and rotate the taller plants to the outside shorter to the inside... Hope this is the info wanted... Thanks for stopping in... :)

Thank you. Yes that helps me. (and a great full frontal shot of your build) I have 2 bars for a 2x4 foot grow box and they are ty-rapped together on some PVC pipe. I keep moving them in and out trying to fine tune them before I anchor them to some aluminum angle. So your spacing helps. Did you pick that spacing by using a LUX or PAR meter? Or like many who have symmetry OCD pick round even numbers! Not saying you have symmetry OCD...but some of us do.

I am about 2 weeks out on my first run with white COBs...and I just got my added 13-watt far red bar built...it will be all ready for next run. What kind of timer and timing are you going to run on your far reds?

I looked at successful builds and what would work in the meter squared I have to flower in. I looked at the light spread each cob would lay out with a 90° angle reflector at 18" above the plants. I don't think I'm OCD but I know I'm a procrastinating perfectionist... :) I am running the Apollo 9 titan bigital controls for timers for far reds and the main light. I had to reset my main light timer and reprogram it to have it start turning on my build but no problems since then... I'll be following your grow BuddyColas... :)

Wowsers nice rig, what sort of PPFD did you calculate in your space running at 50%? or even at full if you have an idea. Id love to do this long term for a new build, but make the centre lights 5000K for vegging. Then as your plants get bigger, you turn on the outer rim for a nice full spectrum combo in flowering

Perro ,
did you follow someones thread to build your far red light ? do you have both Far Red & IR ?

do u go 100% coco or do u add stuff

I was planning on 2 36" hs''s with 4 cobs each. But the 3 hs''s gives a better spread. Would you mind taking pics of your fixture up close and from a few different angles? I'd like to see how you wired it.

With the power on full I believe the PPFD IS around 940 but I don't have a way to measure that besides Supra's calculations. It may have been better for me to start with less light and my light being farther above the plants, live and learn... :)
