My first CXB 3590 run...

@BuddyColas, yes I have the drivers outside the tent. The wiring is 16 gauge 600v about 7' from the light to the drivers. I have some peg board to mount the drivers to but I have been to lazy to build a fame for support, so for now they ride the floor. On the light I used 18 gauge 300v because the 16 gauge was to thick for the ideal cob mounts... :)

I'm running the far reds and cobs on separate drivers and timers. Here is a pic with all of them on... :)

@Airwalker16, here are some pics of the wiring. I linked 4 cobs by mounting the 3 heatsinks to the 1" x 1" aluminum angle stock. I drilled through the heatsink to connect the cob holders in series and used the fins for a wire channel. I secured it all with zip ties and tagged the wires as to what they were, cob set 1, 2 and IR... :) Last pic is half dimmed, half on full... :)

Very nice. But was wondering if you'd take a few more of the back as a whole and tale pics that show it all a little more in depth cause I'm gonna hide my wires too

It will be next to impossible with the light hanging to take a full pic of the back of the light. I drilled and beveled holes in the sink to run wires through the sink to the cob holders. I started with an end in mind and worked my way back to it. In series wiring I ran white wire between the cobs and only red and black to the drivers hook up wires. I labled each set with tape that kept them together. Three sets of six wires isn't a ton but you wouldn't want to get in a hurry and mix a couple up... :)

Well at least just close to the wiring?
I can't decide whether to mount an aluminum plate across my rails where your middle sink is at and mount the drivers there or to make them be away from the light. If I do the 2 36" 4 each spread. I'm doing a 3x4 area so it's probably more practical that way. Although I'm really tempted to do it as you did
 
A week after transplant into coco and most of these girl are loving life. I have one pheno that seems to hate everything so we will see, if she don't get withit she can do it moving... Lol

I think the Hashberry will be the yielder in this group... Just a prediction from the way she is staking nodes... :)

These girls all wanted some mag this early in their cycle which surprised me, they are a little under fed as well. PH is steady in the runoff but salts are high. I bet the coco ran salty this time, didn't run a slurry test to see before planting. Roots are all coming out the drain holes so not to long now till 12/12.... :)

I too grow coco and cobs, I'll be watching this one! I run either straight coco or occasionally I'll put a layer of hydroton in the bottom for extra drainage, no rhyme or reason to when though. I grow flood and drain, usually 6" pots perpetual. Stick a couple plants in every couple weeks so once the tray is full it's time to start harvesting the first few and it's a constant cycle. This is only my second shot at cobs though, I was using hps indoors now I'm in an outbuilding with no climate control so my first go at it flopped horribly with mildew and mold halfway through. The current grow should finish up in about 3 weeks and is looking super so far!

I reuse my coco but not every bit, I just whack the root ball against the inside of a 5 gallon bucket a few times and what come off I keep, the root ball then goes into the woods to decompose. The 5 gallon bucket has holes drilled in it and I will run tap water through until the runoff is relatively close to tap ph/ppm.

I'm using Botanicare coco bricks and rehydrate them. I started with GH coco but it was more like coffee grounds and very salty. I plan on starting to reuse my coco with this run. I will also be looking into the pumice as well as rice hulls. I'm really interested in seeing what a coco bed could do under the biy cob lighting. Keep pitching in ideas cause my head is always running, only a couple things can shut that down, one my wife has and the other is what I'm growing.

Thanks for stopping by the dopest! This is my first run with cob lighting. I had a 600 hps in this same tent for about the same amount of light, just a ton more heat. This light will allow me to grow year round not just during the winter. I love how healthy clones respond to the coco... :)

Your girls sure look happy (your last pics). I too am a fan of Botanicare coco…I use the Ready-Gro Aeration mix. Whatever I put in it grows great. I have tried top feed to waste, bottom feeding…all good. So I am a big fan. I use 5ml/gal calmag during veg, then down to 2ml/gal the rest of the way. From my experience coco just needs a lot of calmag (they're just a bunch a mag-whores!)


I appreciate your language “my head is always running.” Yes compulsive thinking seems to be part of the human condition for most of us. Da herb will certainly take things down a notch. I have found really getting into a project can do it, yoga, meditation…oh yes, and as you have pointed out a little one-on-one.

not a fan of rice hulls , i don't put in any organic that not be , say Rotted already
in other words it's not soil so you don't want it being a compost heap
it's like hydro have everything pre digested then add to a tea /
the coco is just a absorbsion meduim & living place for the beni's that act with yer roots
look at food enzymes to break down organic material
 
Thanks BuddyColas! it may seem like a waist of time but I have always hand watered my coco girls. My water here is so full of calcium carbonate it's crazy, it will kill my outdoor garden if not mixed with RO. So I mix about 3/4 of a gallon and a tablespoon of Epson salt in with 5 gallons of RO/nute mix and that's my cal/mag without the extra N... I have only had to do this after the first 3 to 4 weeks of flower, never before with week old clones...

I woke up from a dead sleep thinking of math once my build was complete. The build kept the brain pan busy, now on with the next plan... Lol
