Does this spring water contain too much sodium?

I keep a few strains around and bounce between them. Helps keep the tolerance down and the highs interesting. Sometimes I'll prefer one high over another for that day. It's a great way to go about it for me - and it sounds like you as well. For drying, I keep that simple. I just hang everything...

Does this spring water contain too much sodium?

All I have is anecdote, rudimentary science knowledge, and a passing familiarity with the Ash Hypothesis. Certainly how wet cannabis is will have an impact on how it burns. So will its density, shape, etc. Also its makeup (oily, fibrous, leafy, etc.). How wet it is will be determined by the dry...

Does this spring water contain too much sodium?

I don't smoke bowls to the point of white ash. There's also brown and sometimes even green in my ashtray. Joints always drop white ash. I have never understood why anyone connected ash color to growing technique. Read about it. Haven't seen anything that makes sense or corroborates with...

Pest control that doesn’t damage the Environment?

I use an IPM which includes worm castings and constant vigilance. If the cucumeris in my EWC don't control the mites, I use a citric acid dilute as a foliar. If the hypoapsis miles in my EWC don't control the gnats, I use Mosquito Bits. If aphids show up, I control them by hand - until the...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Hell yeah. With the float valve, the reservoir/net pot wouldn't have to be very deep. If you've got a reliable float valve and everything's tight, I think it's worth a shot. It's kind of a closed, automatic system. Keep us posted.

That's a pretty cool idea. You growing in soil? What holds the weight of the fabric pots, the net pots? I don't know if I would bother with circulation. Not totally sure what pipes in the bottom you mean, but the short upright pipes are more structual than anything, I think. I haven't...

    Earthworm castings

You know, myke, I thought about your arch-nemesis the other day (gnats) when I was poking around in my worm bin. The bin is outside with the lid open. It has probably hundreds of fungus gnats flying around. I thought about how to get rid of the gnats before winter. I could bag the EWC, put a...

    New flushing study

So you start flushing two weeks in advance of harvest only to discover you need a third week before it's ripe. After that third week, you realize it could go a fourth.

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

I kinda mess around with outdoor growing. Like I popped a few freebies to see what would happen. I found a decent one I'll try to do a four-clone grow from this fall (at least that's the plan currently). But since I grow in a shop with no A/C, I can't fire up a light without it getting up past...

I've been dragging my feet on pulling them apart to fully inspect everything after the grow. I should do so and post what I find. I will be firing them back up in a couple of months.

    Life of a Mutant

Lettuce for smoking. Oregano is next. I bet you've all seen a mutant. What happens, do they split themselves apart later? Stupid thread.

Help with my 1st SIP using Coast of Maine

I would say it's a bit heavy on peat, and a bit light on aeration (though you didn't specify a coco/perlite percentage). I would back off the COM Castine and put extra perlite. Otherwise, looks alright to me.

    Life of a Mutant

I attempted to germinate a six-pack of outdoor breeders floor mix freebies and two came up. One is doing great and sits in a SIP. The other - well, check out the pics. The picture with two small ones is a side-by-side of the siblings. But this thread isn't really about the normal one. The...

Something is eating my seedlings :(

Pill bugs are good and bad. Starting over is a good idea. If you can't, definitely start your seeds in a small pot and transplant when they're big enough to be safe. Keep mulch away from the stem. Or don't mulch, and cover the soil with plastic or cloth - as this should keep their numbers down.

    What’s going on here ?

Me as well. Always use unamended, spent ROLS for starts. First (and only) transplant to the hot bucket. If it has to sit too long in the weak ROLS, can always limp it along with some tea.

    Seedlings under heavy lighting test

It's more or less what was expected, but it still got me thinking about why I do what I do. I bombard the plants with light and have tight node spacing, getting dense buds and minimal stretch in a 72" tent. I suppose I can get away with it considering my low humidity. I don't push hard or try...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

Heck yes it is! It was actually my pilot project for a wicking bed (I don't use the soil wicks). I had to be sure my 3/4" river gravel would wick. So the bottom four inches of that 15G pot is gravel.
