Toronto autumn 2021 - how are your plants doing?

Wouldn't sweat your lower/interior fan leaves going yellow at this stage of the game. I've got that going on here in Maine. You're right not to start throwing a bunch of nitrogen at them, that can throw off their focus on flowering. They're just pulling nutrients from the fan leaves to help...

    Maine 2021

On my daily rounds today discovered some white flies on several of the Cherry Wines. I was pulling off dead leaves and looking for moth eggs and I noticed a bunch of tiny white bugs flying off when I disturbed the branches. When I shook the plant a bunch of them flew off the leaves. Doesn't seem...

Planting, Watering, Harvesting, around the Moon Cycle?

I planted my seeds on the waxing moon this year and also timed the transplant into the earth similarly. Never heard of watering by the moon, seems like a dicey idea given the moon is waning for 2 straight weeks and you can't not water during that time. I could see harvesting when moon is...

    Best pump sprayer?

Last year my 20-year old sprayer quite on me so I got a cheap HDX from Home Depot. Big mistake. Returned it after a month. This year I'm having good luck with this DeWalt model so far: https://www.dewalt.com/products/storage-and-gear/pressure-washers/2-gal-manual-pump-sprayer/dxsp190612

Dang that's a lot of plants. Hope you make some serious bank after harvest! And also have a little rest later this fall.

Sorry to hear that. Nothing yet here (knock on wood). It's been raining buckets all day. Plants in fabric pots I moved onto the back porch. Supposed to be lots more rain tonight then sunny tomorrow.

    Smell difference: Indoor vs. Outdoor

I've never grown indoors but I will say a couple of the strains I grew last year (Chinook Haze and Copper Chem) have some of the most remarkable terpenes I've ever experienced in many decades of consuming good weed (last year was my first grow). Not taking credit for that personally, although I...

    Growing monsters

Thanks for the update. Post some pics when you get a minute. Glad things are going well and the fires are steering clear of you. Totally agree about the limonene terps--I grew a couple Chinook Haze and a Copper Chem last year and the fragrance is just out of this world (especially starting...

    Original Skunk #1 outdoors.

Am in midcoast Maine also and grew a bunch of late-flowering sativas last year, harvested the Chinook Haze a few days before Halloween. I take it they're in fabric pots? Mine were in the ground so they had to stay out. Worked out OK but I think I got lucky. This year I have some in fabric pots...

    Maine 2021

Not a lot of bears in my neck of the woods so not speaking from experience but used to deal with them when I guided horsepacking trips out west. Really doubt a small amount of diluted molasses in soil would draw them. Animal based organic topdressings on the other hand like fishbone or bloodmeal...

Sounds like you're making smart adjustments for your climate. I'm mostly in ground but have a few 10g fabric pots, they are definitely more work. Hope you get lots of sun this fall.

Can anyone confirm that those are moth eggs in that pic above? I have not seen any cats at all this week...let's hope it stays that way! Got quite a few spiders hanging out on the plants. I'm thinking they're harmless, maybe even beneficial. Yes? Ida dumped almost 2 inches here in Knox County...

    White spots on leaves

I believe it works by raising the pH of the leaf surface to the point where the PM doesn't grow well. As for the pistils, not sure exactly what the reaction is but I've seen it turn them brown. Not sure it actually hurts them or affects flower development but doesn't look great.

On average, how much % of your harvest is lost to carerpillars?

0% so far (knock on wood). But I inspect plants daily and remove any eggs immediately before they hatch. Occasionally remove cats by hand but don't often see them. If I see any I spray Bt.

    Maine 2021

Found two leaves today with eggs on the top surface (removed leaves and composted). Assuming this is moths? Sprayed Bt last week, will do another application this week. Doing close inspections every morning now, can't be too careful. On a brighter note, I have a cute little ladybug that's...

2 of my plants not budding in Ontario outdoor

I have 3 Cherry Wine plants that aren't flowering yet either (and a bunch more that are well along--go figure). On the other hand my Chinook Haze, a sativa dominant from Greenpoint that didn't show anything until September last year, has some nice looking budlets now. Not sure sure what's going...

    1st time putting in-ground; Question-

Personally I would not prune after flower starts. All valid points about airflow and if you were still in veg I'd say prune away but not worth agitating your plant with wounds during this sensitive time. Let it focus 100% on flowers rather than healing wounds. Mulch is a good idea. Also go out...

    malted barley topdress or tea?

Just did a second round of topdressing on my plants which are just starting to flower. Very interested to see if it enhances/accelerates flowering like Coot says.
