    does this sound right

how much does your power company charge per kwh? assuming you are running 24 hours a day you are using 169 kwh per month. That shouldn't be more than 20 bucks.

1 week or 12/12 now??? You tell me....

Are the HPS with enhanced blue spectrum more effective for veg than the ones that don't have the extra blue? I realized that MH would be far better which is why half way through my grow I got a conversion, but I'm curious to know if the HPS like son agro are even worth it.

1 week or 12/12 now??? You tell me....

I agree, I've seen many more plants that are far more streched on this site. YOu can get a new reflector for like $30 that will cover more area. Also, while your at it, why not get an air coolable one for a little more. I was under the impression that HPS with enhanced blue spectrum would...

1 week or 12/12 now??? You tell me....

Thats probably a good idea. It still looks like you'll get a good yield. The added blue light, is not visible to the naked eye (i don't think). The HPS will still be that orangy color but some have like 30% more blue light to make them more appropriate for all stages of growth. I was wondering...

    heat from lights, need assitance

Babygro, Don’t know that much, but my degree was related. If I fully understand your question, I seem to remember a post by mogie that was related to this. It said that you want to have the passive air intake to be a little bigger than the exhaust hole, to control the speed at which the air...

1 week or 12/12 now??? You tell me....

I'm on my first grow as well, I was forwarned by a few people that stretching might be a problem with my HPS so I invested in a MH conversion bulb. The plants grew short and bushy. Does your HPS bulb have an increased blue spectrum?

    250 watt HPS and Ballast

Yeah, I'm with Videoman on that one, I don't think you can find anything cheaper than that on the net that's brand new. People here will tell you ebay, but I don't think you can get something new for that price from a reputable seller. Plus they will charge you next to nothing for shipping and...

    heat from lights, need assitance

Ohh yeah, and I agree NASA may have a long list of fuck ups, but they are usually in situations far more complex than this.

    heat from lights, need assitance

Heady, no offense taken. I did not ignore disruption of laminar flow and back pressure as I mentioned it in my last response to you. I simply said with the current conditions it is negligible. However, in the situation that you mentioned (1" tube) it would not be negligible. In this case you...

    heat from lights, need assitance

I'm not sure I understand the last sentence. But, increased velocity will allow more volume to pass through a certain point in a given time. That is a fact. Forgetting about the math is like saying you don't need language to write a book. And your analogy about the drain is completely unrelated...

    russ0r's Hydro attempt

Russ0r, keep in mind when purchasing a tray, that if you use a rubbermaid container you will eventually have to buy a new tray because the plastic will break down. If possible get a food grade plastic tray. They are a little more expensive but they will last much longer. What size pots did you...

    400watt sunmaster

Use the MH for vegging, it will prevent the stretching. I would use the 1000w HPS for flowering though. You could have just bought a MH conversion bulb for the HPS light, but vegging with 1000w MH might be overkill depending on how many plants you have.

    Cuttings

I posted almost the same question about a month ago. My clones were a week old and no signs of roots yet. Are you giving them at least 6 hours of dark? I also went out and bought a heating pad. About a week later I saw the first signs of roots. It's been about a month and the last two just...

    On My First Grow

Is it absolutely necessary to flush one or two weeks before harvest? What is RO water? What if you had a few plants 4 weeks into flowering and you had a few plants that you added to the flowering room later that were only 1 week into flowering? Have you every had to deal with that situation?

    Best Hydro System for Newbies

I'm on my first as well and I use a flood and drain. I was told by many people that work at various hydro stores that flood and drain is the most straight forward system for a beginner. My grow has been going great and everything has been so easy. Many people will try to tell you to grow in...

    Online Hydro Shops

I have found you can get the cheapest stuff from High Tech Garden Supply, Hydroponics | Hydroponic Supplies, www.texashydroponics.com. I think you found the cheapest place for lights though.

    can someone explain this light??

I don't think it's meant to bring in fresh air to the room. It's just meant to control the heat from the light. I'm not experienced with co2 use, but I think the point is to keep as much co2 in the room as possible. I'm assuming that the benefit of this set up is so that you don't pull co2 out...

    light distance

willyjack, I've heard that as well. I know that's true for clones, you need a dark period in order for the roots to grow. I used to run veg for 24 hours but I also read that plants can only photosynthisize light for 18 hours a day, so anything more than that is overkill. After hearing that from...
