400watt sunmaster

So i am a beginner just built my own AEROPONICS setup and am very excited. I have 1 question though, i have a sunmaster 400 watt warm deluxe metal halide lamp and it says that it is good for all stages of growth. I am wondering if this is true or should i get a hps instead.the reason i bought this originally because i had a hps 1000 and it seemed my plants were always stretching for light. So did i make the right choice with halide since i will probably go directly from rooted clone to flower tops 1 week of vedge?

Use the MH for vegging, it will prevent the stretching. I would use the 1000w HPS for flowering though. You could have just bought a MH conversion bulb for the HPS light, but vegging with 1000w MH might be overkill depending on how many plants you have.

thanks for the fast reply, now that i got light advice it seems i also have a balast that can do both halide and hps does this make sense? the label on the side shows 3 conversions for each bulb. would i have to alter anuthing inside or is it automatic?
