    light distance

With only 8 plants and one 400 W light, 5 lbs is not realistic for one harvest. One thing you could do is keep several mothers in veg and keep taking clones from them, let them veg a for a while and then flower them. while the first batch of clones flowers, take a second batch and let them veg...

    light distance

Yield depends on the strain and how big the plant is when you start flowering and how much light you have, among other things, co2 etc. There was recently a post that someone started that addressed that very question. But its not an easy question to answer. I started flowering at about 14 inches...

    whats wrong with these babies??

dude, my plants curled just like that when they were younger. Turns out I had the light too close. I had it at about 14 inches and was told to raise it to 18 and let them grow closer to the light. The curling stopped and all is well. I was using a 400 mh as well.

    light distance

Those plants look very good my friend. 18 inches is as close as you want to go for those youngins. If you have a fan blowing directly below the light to help move the heat, you might be able to go a little closer.

    can someone explain this light??

That reflector works really well. FYI: if you buy it off their website (High Tech Garden Supply) you'll save like $30 bucks on shipping. Assuming you're growing in a closed system, like in a grow tent, you can set up the reflector so that it pulls air from outside the tent, through the...

    a new lighting question

Initially I had them on 24 hours, but after nothing happened I posted a question on here and was told that they needed a dark period. Also Garden Knowm posted some info on light and dark cycles required for clones, veg and flowering etc... So I switched to 18/6 and roots started to come in about...

    russ0r's First OP

russ0r, Looks awesome. Hadn't checked your updates in a while; very impressive. I'm intersted to see how you approach the hydro grow (that's how I grow). How many plants do you have under the 400 W HPS? What area does it take up?

    Busted!!!!

Why would law enforcement waste time getting a warrent to bust someone with six plants? Seems like there are a lot of people out there doing much worse like meth labs etc... How did they catch on? was it power consumption?

    a new lighting question

Looks good. So is that like a home made aeroponic clone machine? How'd you come up with that? I hear that clones root a lot faster in those. You might want to put a dome over it to keep moisture trapped in. They say that before the clones root they need to be in a humid environment. My clones...

    a new lighting question

Boy, where do I start?... For starters, if you saw my plants from my first grow you'd eat your words about how I haven't learned much. Also, I clearly stated that he wouldn't need that many lumens while the plant was still small but later as the plant grew he would need more. I was being vague...

    Need Help!

For $120 you can get a good 400 W HPS at High Tech Garden Supply You'd end up spending just as much if not more if you bought the correct amount of cfl's or fluoros for your grow. They also sell 250 W HPS at the same store if you feel 400 is too much for your situation. If you will be leaving...

    Need Help!

ohh yeah, the whole fan and temp issue all depends on ventelation and how confined your grow area is. You should def have a fan for air circulation and to strengthen the stems though.

    Need Help!

The problem with the aerogarden is the amount of space and the lighting. Getting an HPS or MH light will solve the lighting problem but you only really have space for one healthy plant using the aerogarden. I've seen pictures of people growing up to three, but they are usually long and lanky...

    Need Help!

Yo Witebombs, You can get a pretty good set up, or even build one for well under $300 including lights. Texas hdyro is one of the places with good low prices. To answer your question about the aerogarden, my gf has one and I've followed some of the posts on this site and it does not seem to...

    KG garden supply??

looks like a cool set up. Good price. How does it work? Is it an ebb and flow system? Are you gonna use those fluoros for flowering too?

    heat from lights, need assitance

Sounds good. Looks like you have a stable environment now. My room fluctuates between 78 and 82 F and I've had good results so far. Keep us posted and good luck. Feel free to post pics too!:joint: :joint: :joint:

    heat from lights, need assitance

Heady: With all do respect your experiment makes sense but it serves to compare apples with oranges. In the case of the straws, in each instance you are starting with two completely different mass flow rates. Here we are talking about a transition from 8' to 4' with a constant force pushing...

    a new lighting question

Did I say that you said that you couldn't grow with less light than the optimum levels that you gave?!?! No. There you go being defensive again and reading crazy things into what I'm saying. You really need to back off and relax. Congratulations, you are as informed as God now that you have your...

    heat from lights, need assitance

Incorrect. As long as the fan is still running, a 4 inch duct will not hinder the fans ability to clear the air from the closet at the same rate as an 8 inch duct. The air will pass faster through the 4 inch duct, in order to keep the mass transfer constant. This is derived from the law of...
