Imho, I wouldn't bother with a moisture meter. I've found the best way to know when to water is by the weight of the pot. Once u pick up the pot and it feels empty, then it's time for a drink. Don't wait til ur plant is droopin tellin u it needs the water, by then it's already under some amount...

Less than 2 weeks since the transplant and i already got roots out the drainage holes on my 3gal. pot! WTF? .... Other than that, shes's greenin up again, from the bottom up! Soil ph is at 7 finally and tonight i sprayed with some cal mag. Hope she keeps on comin back around!

Damn those some big pots bro! I actually just transplanted mine from a 1 to a 3gal. pot like a week ago, and i already got roots comin out the drainage holes! So how tall are the gals in the big pots?

Myself, i aim for the ole' magic number for veg and flower- 76, with a 10deg. drop at night. I've had my issues with heat in the past but now i got my ac, and the air-cooled hood....all the intake and exhaust i need... it's all good:cool:

I start off small with the seedlings, they don't need much water. As the plant progresses, so does the watering, until i reach the point of getting a bit of drainage from the pots. From then on, I don't water em again til u can pick up the pot and it feels empy. U get a feel for it real easy...
