Most Russian/Eastern European/generally Slavic people I've met did have a sort of quiet problem with gay people.

They wouldn't come out straight and say "I hate gays" but they're really really backwards socially as a people.

I played hockey with quite a few Russians. I will say that they were generally really good guys. Generous, fun to hang with (despite the language barrier), but I noticed that too. Very intolerant of gay people.

i can't imagine ever feeling threatened about a transgender person, or wanting to stop them from doing whatever it is they wanted to do in life. if they want to serve in our armed forces, i can't see why not.
