No, I think it stands to reason that if there are less guns, there will be less gun violence similar to if there are less vehicles, there will be less auto accidents

Do you disagree with that?

No,...that`s not it at all. And unarmed population coupled with armed criminals means less guns but more violence, I guarantee it, Look at other countries, bad guys with guns rule citizens without guns.

.50cal gatling guns?

That's irrelevant to the initial question

I was wondering if you believed there is a line that can be crossed when it comes to the potential lethality of a gun people should legally be allowed to buy?

Dude, you ever shoot ? Of course there`s a line not to cross.

"Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are
the peoples' liberty's teeth" – George Washington

Perhaps you feel citizens should be happy with dentures; or better yet, ought to be eating through straws...

Interesting, two opposing opinions

So which one is right?

@Lord Kanti do you think I should legally be allowed to buy this and mount it to the back of an 18 wheeler and park it in front of the white house?

Sure, as soon as they let you out of the institution...
I've asked you the same question 3 times and you can't answer it honestly because you know I'm right and allowing citizens to legally purchase some insane weapon like an Avenger cannon would be idiotic

There are rational limits to the 2nd amendment

The GAU-8 is to the 2nd amendment what "FIRE!" in a theater is to the 1st amendment

Gatling guns are legal. You may as well have used an atomic bomb for this hypothetical fantasy of yours. That's as far as I go down the fallacy hole with you.

The legality of the weapon is irrelevant to the question

You say the 2nd amendment "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED", I introduce a scenario where interpreting the language of the 2nd amendment presents a realistic problem to the very notion of governance in the United States, and now you back down like a coward because you can't defend an indefensible position

This is a textbook example of conservative hypocrisy

>realistic

I stopped reading there.
That's actually funnier because your vocal retreat yields much more comedic fruit than any silent one ever could!

So thank you for the additional material

Bottom line remaining, there are rational limits to the Constitution, setting a precedent to the document that shall always remain fluid and change in accordance with the most recent scientific information available.

Didn't read the whole thread. Gun control is hitting your target. Got my first firearm when I was 4. Still got it 46 years later.

"Should gatling guns be legal?"

THEY ARE

Yet you continue to try and drag this further...
DO YOU THINK gatling guns should be legal?

Do you understand what I am asking you?

I'm not asking you IF they're legal. I'm not asking you WHY they're legal.

I AM ASKING YOU IF YOU BELIEVE THEY SHOULD BE LEGAL

DO. YOU. BELIEVE. GATLING. GUNS. SHOULD. BE. LEGAL?

Why is this so difficult for you to understand/answer?

They're fun to shoot, are great collectables, prefect living room conversation pieces, and have a 0% homicide rate.

.22 pistols are essentially the opposite in every way, yet they too are also legal to own.

This is a very American centric view. I can tell from the "bad guys with guns" sentiment, as if there are easily boxable groups of "good guys" and "bad guys".

I grew up in the states, but now live in Iceland, a nation with zero gun crime. We finally had a single time the police had to shoot a person, and not only did they apologize for the necessity afterward, but offered counseling to all involved and it was in the national news.

Now I don't think just gun control laws alone will fix America's problems with gun violence, to do that would require reopening the Reagan shuttered mental institutions, fixing America's abysmal social mobility and slave wages, and many more areas that would improve everyone's quality of life (happy people largely don't risk their stable lives to commit crimes), but we can see just from the areas of America that enforce existing laws, gun violence is lessened.

After living stateside for 25 years on the east coast, west coast, and middle, and now Iceland, I can absolutely say I feel safer with fewer guns. (rifles are allowed, hand guns are not. Not even the police are armed, but we do have a special swat team that can be called who does have guns). Safety comes from a working society where everyone feels they have a place and a way to contribute and get ahead, not a violent murder stick.

here are some handy links:

Gun ownership positively correlated with homicide rate

International study concludes gun ownership positively correlated with homicide and suicide rates

The more lax a state's gun laws are, the more gun crime occurs in that state

Decreasing guns on the street by better enforcement of existing gun control laws = less crime

Castle doctrine laws increase homicide rates

Guns in the home more likely to be used stupidly than in self-defence

4th time

Yes or No? I'm not interested in anything else you say

Should Vulcan cannons be legal for average citizens to buy?

Yes?

or

No?

Very simple. All you have to do is type less than 3 letters

If you fail to do so this time, you are either completely incompetent which renders your opinion invalid, or are intellectually dishonest which renders your opinion invalid

If there were less vehicles on the road, I'd drive faster.

Do you think I should be allowed to buy a .50cal gatling gun?

I've never heard of someone being shot by one on purpose outside of warfare.

Paper or plastic, sir? And will you be needing ammunition for your journey?
