Upstate from BC Seeds - Has anyone grown it?

Hello Gioiapura:

Thank you for your posts though your last one was not what I am seeking on this thread. I created this thread in the hopes that I might find some people who have grown the elephant, elephant outdoor, and the upstate strains from BC seeds because I am hoping to grow one of these for the summer. I have had to endure a lot of negativity on this thread in the hopes that I would find some people who could share knowledge about these strains and I continue to do so for the next 4-6 weeks until it's time to plant. If you are one of these people I would welcome conversation with you. As it happens, I have sent you two private messages asking you for any information you would be willing to share with me about these strains. I do not know if you have received these private messages and I will mention that this web site has acted funny on several occasions with it not being accessible, so I don't know if this site is based in the USA where the most negative control over people exists...so if you have not received those private messages, then either post some big messages in this thread or send me some personal messages. I would welcome conversation with you whenever it is convenient for you to reply.

Thanks

Holee cow man! The negative energy spear you just threw was harsh man. Especially if you haven't ordered from them. As I say, I've also sent cash on four different orders and I got my seeds but I say again...don't live in the USA or you take the risk.

There is a guy on rollit up named Jasper2478 and he grew elephant bud from BC seeds and he was a newbie. Check his thread out. Sadly, his elephant went to seed. Now he has going some other stuff from bc seeds.

You guys that are being hard on wanting the facts...there were heaps of negative views through Jasper2478's thread but there were also many BC seed customers who love the genetics that this person develops.

The summer is coming everyone, so to all those negative people who hate BC seeds...I simply say to you - buy a cheaper strain from them and try it out. But if you have bigger balls than that...buy some more expensive strains and do an experimental grow. Prove to yourselves and to us that BC seeds suck. But if you're wrong and you get happy product, then maybe you'll be just as honest and tell us how you did.

You negs have a good point that no one has heard about the detailed genetics of certain strains that they have at BC seeds. Few people have seen pictures, and some people who post responses tend to try to sell BC seeds favorably. Additionally, No Cannabis cup entries...those are all good points that you have made. For somebody that has not ordered from the company, I would worry too. But I made the order(s) and I have the seeds. And come summer time I'll find out if in fact certain strains at bc seeds are any good or not. Perhaps you negs could do the same.

I simply want information about Upstate as I'm doing my genetics research right now as we all should be. To the person that just wrote to me that is growing Upstate. Thank you for writing. How tall is the Upstate plant growing? As in...if I started it from seed in soil...how much would it grow in a month - I'm growing outside? I've heard that Upstate grows fast. Is that true? Lots of branches? How many months veg are you at?

Thanks for your response.

I bought Kush seeds from BC Seeds and grew them in a couple of my trusty bubblers. Well, I can tell you one thing, they sure as hell weren't Kush! Kush leaves are fat and Kush has a very distinctive smell. The marijuana that was growing, was. not. Kush. So I've never bought from them again.

And yes, they are INSANELY over priced. Even their cheap seeds are way too expensive for what you get.

Big rip-off if you ask me.

Hi Kraft Dinner:

Many thanks for your forewarning. I appreciated reading your experience with BC seeds. Thank you. Hearing from a person who actually bought the seeds and grew out the plant...that I appreciate big time!

I found a person who grew out elephant. I'm not sure which one it was though because he didn't say and BC seeds has I think 6-7 strains of elephant now...

But he was a newbie growing for the first time in a five gallon pot. He wasn't happy with the yield but he was pleased with the smoke and being successful on his first grow. Three pics for you to look at...

I'm going to keep this thread up until May 1 and then I'll be shutting her down just so everyone knows...

Have a good day!

Thanks for your message madelbrot:

I'd really appreciate hearing your story. Could you either write one up here in this thread or send me a personal message please? I'm after any personal experiences with elephant (any strain) or Upstate. Is it true about a bigger yield and quality of bud? How tall do these things get if you let them grow? How did you do with them?

Love to see a couple of paragraphs with your experiences...

Thanks and have a great day.

PS. Any pictures would be super appreciated!!!

Hi Everyone...

Been busy getting the outdoor situation prepared and I hope everyone else out there is as well. I haven't been around that much but I did manage to find somebody who has actually grown the indoor regular elephant strain and I borrowed several of their pictures.

I've never lied in this thread so I'm going to tell you that the grower was not pleased when he didn't get pounds and pounds. But in fairness, he used smaller buckets. If you use a 5 gallon as an example, you can't expect to get pounds.

In the end, he walked away with half a pound dried between two plants. The quality of the smoke he said was top grade!

Hope you like the pictures.

Have a great day.

Hi

Im new on here and wanted to comment on bc seeds.
I have grown a few of there strains Elephant Upstate ect. And no I did not pay the ridiculous price that they are charging. I have a friend that likes to buy from them eventhough I tell hime he is insane for paying the prices. I can say that the do send the stains stated on thier site but I have not had anything even close to the outragous thc level claims they make. They stains I have tryed have been decent though and they do match the desciptions. I cannot comment on yield as it varies but nothing oustanding yet.

bcseedkings is better. bc bud depot is the best.
dont you think they would have one a cup by now? im sure they are new but still come on now. Where were they last year?
im sure there super strains would have one every cup. If there was any super strains. look at the grow journals on here about them. didnt turn out great. Plus they are seeds. not cuttings. how can they back there % up

Hello Sanndy:

Thanks for telling everyone your experience with the various strains that you have grown from bc seeds. I agree with you that the prices are crazy, which is why I bought at the sales. I'm hoping that elephant outdoors proves to be as outstanding as they claim it to be but who knows what the end result will be until we try eh? I'm also going to give my feminized upstate a try as well.

If you have any pictures of elephant or upstate please feel free to post them here.

Thanks for participating in this thread!

Have a great day

Hello Mr. SmileyFace:

I agree with you on many fronts. I agree that the prices suck for the expensive seed strains and I have no idea how bc seeds measures thc levels.

I ordered and tried growing bc bud depot's pinewarp and timewarp and to be honest, they sucked. They barely got out of the soil. While right beside them the feminized upstate from bc seeds grew out strong and are now in their cups...

I also agree that there needs to be more grow journals about bc seed strains and there are a few elephant grow journals that are active on this web site just so you know. I also agree with you that if bc seeds has any sort of decency, they will enter their strains in the canabis cup to give them some legitimacy.

I have not tried bcseed king so I can't say anything about them.

Thanks for participating in my thread.

Hello everyone - Hi Shep J...

Sorry I haven't been around much as I've been getting things ready for the planting. I love being out there in the bush. If you have a dog with you, I am envious!

I won't know for certain what strains I'm going to plant until the last moment but Shep J helped me think about what my wants and needs are so I came half way and started some other strains that weren't from BC seeds. They're off to a slow start and I actually have a question for the seed to plant experts out there.

If you are growing out seeds for say 6 weeks indoors using 24 hours light and you realize that this will create more male plants than female plants....can you change the light cycle to 14.5 to 15 hours of light instead and not screw up the plants? The 14.5 to 15 hours of light per day...that gets you more female plants I have learned. I'd say there's another 2 weeks to go and then they should be switched over to 12/12 to determine sex.

I'm not the one growing these...the people who have the elephant outdoors are doing this...and they didn't realize that 24 hours of constant light create more males...they were in to much of a hurry to get babies made...

Thanks for your feedback...

I hope everyone else is getting ready for their outdoor grow! And while doing my research I also found out that Hawaiian snow also gives off a huge yield if the conditions are right.

Talk to everybody soon,

Buckets
1 - You shouldn't have the lighting time to 14.5 to 15 hours a day. That's pushing it to the 12/12 for flowering.

2 - Most people who are veging them from seed wouldn't risk veging them on 14.5 to 15 hours of light per day

3 - Some people want to keep males and make a batch or so of seeds of that 1 strain or to bread with a nother strain to see what they'll make and how good or bad it will turn out

4 - IMO the gender of the plant is determined when the seed is created as for if its a male or female now I think if its a female then that's when how you take care of it changes if its a female or Hermi

I'm still thinking about ordering some beans from them might go with Upstate to since its around a 6 weeker. I want to do it under CFLs since its way easer then having to get hoods, balasts, venting stuff nad more in my room well it would be a closet grow but still. Would putting some CFLs on a traker be better then having a bunch in 1 area so that they are moving and able to cover more area.

Also any one have a pic of a tracker setup I could use in a closet?

I wouldn't grow such expensive beans under CFLs, you'll never be happy with the yield.
True but I won't be growing from seed and harvesting them I will be taking clones off them to keep growing. And tbh most strains won't give max yeilds under CFLs and I want to get a 6 week strain and not a 8 to 12 week strain.

Hey toolage57 have to agree with dirtnap411 if your going to spend 400 or 500 on seed spend 200 more for a 400w hps with a cheap fan to circulate air you should have no problem with heat or worrying about buying or hooking up exhaust system! You would yield more, bigger, faster buds with the 400w hps! Good luck man! Peace

Like I said I would but there would be to much heat and I can't vent out side with out having the toobing running along the floor or ceeling to the window and its only gonna be about 3 to 4 feet deep, 6 feet long but about 2 feet will be for flowering and my room retains heat easly and its hard to get rid of it and its even worse in the summer so HPS is out of the question. Not only that but atm I can't afford to put $200+ for a HPS balast and such for lighting. I can get ither 2 45w CFLs for under $30 or a 10 Pack for $15 and light sockets I have a bunch kicking around that I can use so its cheeper to go that way. I will be using at least 100w for the flowering area so don't think I'm gonna skimp on that part. But I might be able to do 1 or 2 out side or a few depending on where I put them. Oh yea I forgot I'm not trying to get crazy yeilds and me going CFLs if I realy want to I could half the 7 foot hight for 2 flowering areas only plan on doing SOG.
