Hopping on for the ride I am having the same problem 5 weeks into flowering my P.h, was also way off trying to get things corrected now so good luck I will keep following your thread and when i get mine back in control I will let you know
That'd be awesome. Maybe between the 2 of us, and ninja's advice we can come to a solution lol.

Ninja, I'm thinking of buying 3 gallons of of distilled water per plant, and flushing them, 1 gallon a day of Ph'd water, with a capful of peroxide, and calmag. Or should I just do all 3gal at 1 time?

Some major pruning happened last night. A large handful of leaves came off of all the plants yesterday, small leaves, fan leaves medium leaves. Which I know cant be good. So I've gotta get this under control. It's a uniform problem is all I know basically. Now that I have a meter I'm hoping I can fix this. As I'm writing this, I'm leaning towards just ph'd water, no calmag or peroxide or anything, 1 gallon a day, and keep checking the runoff, buy a ppm/ec meter soon and figure out what the ppm/ph of the runoff is each day, and see when it's finally cleared? Sound productive? Your insight has been invaluable, so thanks.

I live where we check our ppm on the 500 scale. When i was sayin you need runnoff, i was sayin like every day. Otherwise your loosing the good soil your buyin. Misewell run promix iiff you wanna pound nutes. :):):$

Ahh, I see. So like a gallon ever 3 days for watering purposes to saturate the soil for runoff and all? That's what I'm drawing from what you said..

Ya, if theres no water cycle then you never remove the salt from the root zone and itll build up. A shop vac works good to empty out deep saucers if tou have your plants netted tight. Ive got two nets on mine and theyre tight as hell. I run three gallons through 5 gallon smart pots. Some guys flush every time before they feed. The hardest part is coming up with a system to deal with the run off.

Woooow, we just foubd my problem. Thats what it is, a salt buildup. I stopped watering for runoff cuz I hated emptying it. Which means there is probably immense buildup. I'll just use my tub to water and drain the bottom out every 3 days with a gallon of water or so to get runoff. Thanks man!

Thats what RIUs all about man, helpin out when you can. ;)
Thanks man. I'll let you know how it goes. Should I do this for a week, and hopefully wash thr salt out. Then start adding 1/4 strength bloom nutes, with a tiny bit of fish emulsion for my foliage. Sound smart?

image.jpgWhen i found out that i burnt mine i totally stopped food for the last month and a half and i really doubt it hurt anything. Just staight water, i wasnt even givin em calmag everytime. Ffof seems to have what they need already in it. Id keep fushing water through them till your run off ppm is around 5-600 and then if you want to add nutes then ya, low doses is all you need. Heres a pic of the results of that month and a half of no fertilizer. You can see the burnt leaves. They just hung on till the end. Trimming sucked because the tips of the sugar leaves all had to come off but as you can see, ffof + 1000ish ppm = burnt but still fine if ya just lay off the nutes.

Damn, yeah you're right man, I'll just use water and calmag ever other watering, and flush biweekly with 2 gallons. Use a 50-50 RO/Tap mix.

Damage seems to be ceasing, but the yellowing of bigger leaves isnt. I'm definitely nutrient deficient. But the buds are already looking bigger, and developing along nicely now, I think. So I'm gonna give it a few waterings, if much more turns yellow, I'm gonna need to use some fish emulsion.

JUST taken yesterday night, cimpare to orevious picture of bud progress. Granted the plants are moved. I always move their postion when I water. But you should see a good diference in developement.

Idk man, the fish is super high in N isnt it? N burns doesnt it? Heres mine, i thought the same thing and hit er with 900 ppm straight N and it clawed the whole plant. Theres so much salt in there your probably locked out man. You do what you want but personally id keep running water through them for a while. Look how crispy these leaves got before i went to only water. The first pic is when i stopped feeding nutes in ffof, the last pic is a monthish later with no more nutes, just water. The yield was there, the leaves were just all burnt. I wish i would have not fed so hard w ffof and flushed more, the technical term for it is leaching because your leaching the built up nutrients from the soil and roots. Flushing is debatable and not for right now but i think you need to keep leaching before you get back to feeding. Just my 2 cents. :):):)

So keep just adding a gallon or so water that's PH'D every 3 days or so, u til theres a decen5 amount of runoff, and see where I am in a mont? Basically, if Iunderstand right, yyou're saying the nutes are there. I'm just locked out right now, and need to keep leeching it out. Until I get the plant where it should be? I'm taking your advice bro, not gonna make you talk to a wall. I'm new, I heed the veterans advice.

Im no vet my friend, im one grow in over you but ive got 3800ish posts. Ive just done a bunch of reading thats all. I also know a few people who grow and am friends with some hydro shop guys that are very helpfull. They diagnosed my problem with the yellowing leaves and ffof plus 900-1100 ppms of nutes causing burnt leaves and lockout due to salt buildup all as a result of not leaching your soil at waterings. I know its a mouthfull, but it looks just like the problem i was having and i know your thinking that it makes perfect sence by now right? All those things that have been going into your soil and not coming out. Coating your root system with a fertilizer slick thats built up to toxic levels.
The first thing my hydro guys told me when they sold me the ffof was that i wouldnt need to use very much nutrients at all and thats why the soil is the most expensive. I already knew from reading that i should be feeding every third water so i wasnt that bad off but i figured that the nutes in the soil wouldnt last very long and id have to start supplimenting with 900-1100 ppm again. When the hydro guys showed up and questioned me on my methods i told them i wasnt watering until runoff and right away their eyes lit up. Easy diagnosis. Im a clean freak. I dont like water spilling out all over. Now im trying to come up with a way that i can drain to waste and not have a mess and not have to move my plants. Cause they are too big, or will be. Im thinkin about having them on a milk crate and having a hole on the low side of the catch saucer that drains into a catch basin. Theres alot of very successfull growers that "flush" many times throughout their grow and have great results and green plants and i like yourself, want that as an end result. I buy the most expensive things for my ladies because i love them. I really like treating them well so i can have good smoke so i get them all the best stuff.
We are both at the same place right now it seems. All full of great ideas and beginners luck mixed with green thumbs. The only thing we dont have yet is expirience. Here, these havent been given ferts for the same amount of time as the ones in flower. And theyre still doing fine. Im about to start using fertz again but just at low amounts, very low for the size and what my dwc girls would have taken. :):):)

I figured out what I'm gonna do. Next grow, or maybe even this one in a bit. I'm gonna raise it up about 4-7in, and put them all on a flood and drain tray, and that should fix the problem right away. Then put a runoff bucket at the end. That should do well, especially next grow qhen I use super root air pots.
