No, I'm saying a person's circumstances are an important variable in deciding whether or not the "agreement" they enter into is legitimate

If a person is starving, they will take any job they can find just to survive. In essence, they are forced to take the job because survival is paramount. If they are forced into it, it cannot be legitimate by definition

So you're saying a person can commit fraud on an unwitting person, who is unrelated to the creation of the poor circumstances of the potentially fraudulent person and it's okay ?

So if your life sucks, you are not responsible for your actions ?

^ You got it. As I mentioned in that other thread, you are a dick for making those shitbag comments, but I can't agree more with you on this. Gotta remember, folks; a lot of these guys and girls slingin our food don't get paid a whole lot nor are they treated very well. Even if my buddies/wife and I just grab some shitty tacos from a chain place I still tip, regardless.

I've gotten a few awkward looks through the years and "uhhhh, sir, we aren't allowed to accept that!", but I don't give a rat's ass, I just cram the money in their hand and tell them to take it anyhow.

I'm saying that if you want to offer me $2 an hour for a job and I have to take it because if I don't, I will starve to death, the "agreement" in which I accepted the job offer is illegitimate

So when you say "He accepted it, it's an agreement between two consenting people and you have no right to get involved!" and try to use that as justification for such low wages, it's bullshit

Because there is no room for the service to be improved. When I go to McDonalds, the problem is never with the service, it's with the quality of the product (which is why I don't go there very often). Even a significant tip will not solve that problem

Agreed on all counts.

I STILL think tipping is a legitimate custom.
