Micro-growbox IKEA Kallax: is a 65 watt Kingbrite overkill for a 1' by 1' ?

I just wanted to report back, to say that I've decided to follow your recommendations. I will be using a cabinet which is about 50% taller and have ordered the Phlizon PL-1000 QB to go with it. They upped the discount and I got another 9% coupon, and with free shipping it ended up being €55, so I'm quite happy with that. Thanks for the recommendations!
So basically 1x1x3? Like corey said, the space limitations make it ridiculously difficult for a new grower. Have you thought about intake, fans, exhaust, odor control, environmental controls? It all seems easy until you're in the thick of it. Good luck.

Yes, the total available height of the interior is 100cm / 3.2 ft . The width is slightly bigger than 1ft, it will be something like 1.3ft by 1.4ft.

I do have a plan for those things. I will be using a small noctua intake fan with dustfilter at the bottom and a 200mm noctua fan as exhaust at the top-rear, pushing air through a kitchen hood carbon filter to reduce the smell (which I hope won't be too bad in the first place, with just a single plant). I will be using a low and wide pot, so it doesn't take away too much available interior height, and I may limit the potsize to only 1 or 2 gallons to further stimulate a small plant.

I will also be choosing a strain that's listed as 'for beginners' and as having a maximum indoor plantsize between 50-100cm. I plan to use plant hooks for some LST to direct growth sideways instead of up and later on I intend to hang up a scrog to spread the canopy and provide support. Additionally I will coat the inside with mylar as well as hang up a small oscillating fan.
Am I missing something?

EDIT: I also ordered this 6-in-1 Ferto/PH/moisture/LUX/temp/humidity meter to keep track of environmental conditions. Seems really useful.

Is that tiny fan going to be able to push or pull air through a carbon filter?

Others can chime in, but I don't see how that fan is going to provide adequate air exchange especially after trying to go through a filter.

This is part of the problem; you have no sideways to direct growth. That's why if you were to grow in a 1x1, you'd want more vertical space because the key would be directing growth vertically. In this case, the strategy is to do a lot of key pruning to limit both height and width.

It is not a small fan though, it's 20cm / 7.8 inches. It's the biggest pc casefan size available and noctua is the premiere brand in terms of airflow. It's this one and I am thinking of using this type of carbon filter, which matches up nicely in size. I don't know if it will work, I will have to test it out. ChatGPT says it should, though.

Yes, regular pruning and defoliating is part of the plan. I realize more space would be better, but it would end up too big. I'm already expanding larger than I initially wanted, so this is what I will have to work with. I don't need massive yields, an ounce per harvest would make me pretty satisfied already.

I use noctua fans for this. Not enough for filters other than a cloth in the intake passive for dust if you want. No need for a pc fan in the intake, that alone is more than enough air flow for such tiny space.

You can slap on a ac infinity 4” fan and carbon filter and get creative with how to hide it which is another thing.

Idk if discreet is a priority but like they always say at some point its going to reak.

Unless you vent out a window while harvesting and treat a small room like a negative air pressure odor removing room. Its worked for me when harvesting a dozen ounces.

For sure hang dry in the smell proof setup. So its gonna get a little expensive unless you just do something basic and allow some smell.

Ive turned off all fans inside tents starting with this cabinet and slowly realized they just aint needed. Just need well spaced colas that can breathe and Ive been running rh of 55/60rh.

Negative air pressure helps with that, my lungroom acts the same way, it used to be negative pressure and no humid/hot temp pockets. Now there is since I disconnected the setup to vent back inside.

Now I use a pedestal fan and its equal all over the room again.
