We installed a gin pole on the top of one of those towers, ran a trolly up, killed the power & a dude actually got in the basket, bridged the 4' glass insulator (between the tower and the antenna net) From there he choked the wire on either end & removed said insulator, installed a new one & reapplied tension.
I was shaking in my boots & I wasn't even in the basket !

Oh, and he accidentally dropped a 1 1/2" fine thread nut that went clean through the bed and muffler of a J20 Jeep pickup.

Trusses are up! Man I'm beat. Not really sure what I'm doing next, I think I have to add the 1ft over hangs on each side.

This is a basic prefab pole barn from Menards but I don't have instructions and I've never built one before so I keep referencing youtube on how to build it.

If anybody's built one before I could use some pointers on framing out the utility door.

Spike came around when I was snapping pics.

Just installed 2 baby gates. Little project just before bed. I wasn't gonna do them tonight but peaked inside the box and seen a wrench was included and was like "hot damn a fucking free wrench!" So I did it.

I remember when I use to ask my folks for new truck tires for my birthday. Baby gates geesh. :D

I still have and cherish the free screwdriver from a bit of flat-pack furniture. Freeee!

Got the purlins up today, had a few friends come over to help with it since the boards are 20ft and span 3 trusses.

I think after watching GWN's video I'm less afraid of heights. The whole time I watched the video I was white knuckling my desk but today I was climbing around on the roof like nothing.

Thanks GreatwhiteNorth!:)

On the real though - here are 4 towers I used to climb twice annually.
Each is 685' tall & a challenge to muster up the courage to get moving up.
The towers themselves are not the antenna - that is suspended as a "net" from the tops of the towers so thankfully each one was "Dead".

I got the 1ft overhangs added on and the face boards, also the windbraces on the underside of the purlins.

I think I'm about ready to start adding the F and J channeling for the metal and windows.

Looking good God. Looking more and more like a solid barn everyday. Can't wait to see the finished product.

As for myself, my neighbors said they'll just sell me their corner of the property that the steps are on for $1, rather than worrying and making me relocate them. Which is pretty cool. I'm getting pretty busy at work again and have been doing a couple sidejobs a week after work, so I haven't really had time to build no stinking steps. Barely have time to get high. :eyesmoke:

Thanks Neo, me too! Can't wait till it's finished.

I took my pool down the first weekend my daughter went back to school, I imagine your season is coming to an end also.

It's good keeping yourself busy and making that money, nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, I got another month and a half of solid work and usually call in the UC about mid November. One of the other pool companies shut their doors in August, not sure what happened but there is a whole mess of customers scrambling to get their pools closed and we aren't taking on a new customers, so I've been able to pick and choose and set prices. Closed one last night, 2 hrs $160. :D

Still haven't gotten any metal up on the building, the weather hasn't been very cooperative and I'm going to need a few people to help. Probably start this weekend or so.

In the mean time I'm working on a loafing shed for my calves. I'm going to make it roughly 9x18x8'. The base is an old telephone pole I cut in half and the wall posts are trees I cut a few seasons ago.

I'm going to stick frame it and cover it in used galvanized sheet metal. Here's where I'm at so far.

It'll probably save me around a thousand dollars building it myself out of old materials. My neighbor works for the electric company and drops off power poles when he switches them out for new ones, I've got a couple laying around. And the sheet metal I found used on craigslist for $150.

I need to dig a 30 foot,18 to 20 inch deep trench across my yard. The mini hoe I'd usually use is on a job about 100 miles away.Should I dig ,or wait? Hmmm, better do a bong and think about it~

I guess I'm the only one that's got projects going. No matter, I'm posting in this thread till my barn is done.

Finished up one of the sides today.
