Opinions on the spider farmer SF2000

Everything is cheaper in China because their labor force gets paid next to nothing. Have you ever wondered why nearly every fucking item on amazon or on a walmart shelf is made in China? Because any company can rape their manufacturing labor force by paying them next to nothing to make their products, then that same company can ship those products around the world where they then charge stupid fucking consumers exponentially more. Alibaba is a direct conduit to the manufacturers. This completely cuts out the middle man (i.e. HLG) thereby allowing the consumer to pay what the product is actually worth with some hefty shipping costs. But feel free to put Stephen's kids through college by paying $1200 for a single light that can be had for $400-$500 directly from the source on Alibaba. I know I know, Stephen gets top bin diodes that prior to coming off of the Samsung assembly line pass through the virgin mary's vagina before landing in the HLG shipping container headed for Stephen's warehouses here in the states. I stand by my prior assessment. Some people just love to get fucked. HLG calls those people their core customer base :)

I paid $187 shipped to my front door for two 110W quantum boards with lm301b diodes and mean well drivers. They're fucking dope, and they cost me half what I would have paid from some dick wad in the states. Love me some china men. Not love me some middlemen. Get it?

The board on the left is an overpriced spider farmer 450W SF-4000 I paid $628 for on amazon. The board on the right is a 660W unit off of alibaba I paid $504 for with shipping which is now on sale for about $455 with shipping. The 660W board is 2 1/2" longer and 2 1/2" wider than the SF-4000, contains more diodes, and pushes more power to each diode. Man I sure wish I had paid Stephen $1200+ tax for one of his 650w boards. Yeah, not a fucking chance.

LOL, well at least if they are going to fuck you as you put it is with the "virgin mary's vagina". Tell me that is not worth extra? Dude, I get where you are coming from. You do gloss over a few points though such as better warranty, local service, supporting local business and not supporting slave labor used in Chinese factories. But hey, to each their own. To some it is only about the money they pry out of their wallets and that's cool if that is all you are concerned with. There are many quality products to be had from China, can't argue that.

I wish you would've tried the light without the UV first. Then add the bar and compare the difference. But I probably wouldn't be able to help myself to use it from the beginning since you already have it. I know the UV is gonna add some frost, I'm just wondering be how much.
Yeah, hard to say. I won't attach it until I flip to flowering. I may use the UV light this run and not the next just to compare. If I am going to experiment I would rather have the better stuff first :)

YOU SIR ARE A GOD! OMEGAWGSGSGSHSHSHHS i cant put into words the way in which your post has made me feel! God i am so going too buy a alibaba board! Im just a vagstacklet great looking buds! I bet the 660w has great coverage compared too a sf4000 i saw the sf 4000 par map for a 4x4 space and it was not so good
I think the word you were looking for is overpriced. You're welcome.
Dude for example the sp 3000 costs 400 usd right? and i found a board on alibaba for 180 that runs meanwell driver 320watts and lm301h diodes
The only thing i do wonder is how much R&D(or whatever its called) goes into the retail lights ? Like i wonder if the price is justified in some way or if were just being ripped off.

Not to mention buying straight from a china company with my credit card would make me hella nervous. Least if you buy something off Amazon you have some protection.

Spider Farmer and Mars Hydro are both decent budget lights. Fight me lol.
Use them right (Yes there are wrong ways to use led lol) and dial them in with your plants.
The "more light/watts the better end result" is not typical, you gotta know what you're doing.
I'm a noob so I got budget lighting in my grow space. Looking to pull a # between the 2x4 and 2x2.
2 auto's & 2 Photoperiod plants all in 5g pots.
With what I learned, I believe this is doable for me. If it works out. I shoot higher next time. IMG_6079.JPG

I couldn't give a flying fuck what you order, but I will mercilessly berate the HLG fan boys that proudly over pay for LED lighting. R&D? Please. The difference in price between an LED light for sale on alibaba's platform versus amazon is the company in the middle that's fucking you on the price so they can exist. Without that profit margin they make off of middling you they don't exist. Ever wonder why Iphone's are made in china and not north america? Apple is middling the fuck out of everyone. That's their profit margin that's made them the wealthiest company in the world. Well that and convincing stupid fucking consumers that spending $1200 on a cell phone is justified, and that said stupid fucking cell phone is worth $1200. Apple doesn't make phones. Companies in china make the phones for them.

What are you 12? Every credit card I've ever had has zero fraud liability protection. Shit I've disputed charges that weren't even justified and gotten my money back. Fuck a few weeks ago I got pissed off at walmart for delaying my 3 cases of starbucks so I disputed the charge, received my cases a week later, and got the starbucks for free plus my money refunded. That's about the weakest argument I've ever heard for letting a north american based company fuck you without lube for LED lighting equipment.

One more side note, I would make sure any light I purchased was CSA/UL listed to North American Standard. Doesn't matter the brand, just so that it is certified to our safety standards.
Finally an intelligent argument. I can dig that. Not every piece of equipment on 'baba is UL listed, and your point is valid. However, there are many vendors on 'baba that do sell UL listed products. All 3 boards I bought from the vendor I went through on 'baba were not UL listed. The vendor was honest and there was no obfuscation.

You see General Patton standing behind an American flag on my profile picture next to my post and you ask me if I'm Aussie? Jesus fuck you're definitely an HLG customer :)
You are a patriot but you don't give a shit about supporting US labor? You prefer to support communist slave labor in order to save yourself a buck. Cool story bro.

I bought my boards from HLG, but bought my drivers and parts to put them together myself. The cost was less than it would have been for equal wattage Mars or SF fixtures.

Your boards are actually great for the space you're using them in and your plants look great. There is nothing wrong with mars hydro branded boards. They produce great results. Are there better options? Well sure. But that kind of applies to every kind of product in the world. Buy a ford and somebody's gonna tell you ya shoulda bought a chevy. Buy a chevy then some yahoo is gonna come along and tell you ya shoulda bought a toyota. The shit never ends. What's a consumer to do? Buy what is best for you and your needs. Fuck everyone's opinion. One rule is non-negotiable no matter what product you're buying: Do not overpay for what you're buying. A friend of mine has quite a few mars boards in the same flower room as a couple of the overpriced fluence units he initially bought when setting up his garden, because everyone told him that he had to buy "the best" and someone convinced him fluence was "the best." He found out the transaction served the folks at fluence a lot better than it served his garden. He's an amazon junky and subsequently tried several of the mars boards. He was impressed with the results, especially compared to his fluence units that he ordered more when he setup 3 more flower rooms. They're cheap and effective.

You have a great looking garden there. Keep up the good work, and fuck everyone else's opinion. That includes me :)

Overpaying to support a company that's middling me? That's not patriotism sir. That's just stupid. NAFTA ruined the American manufacturing industry. Write your elected representative. I have no control over legislation. The DIY kits that HLG sells aren't unreasonable, and I wouldn't discourage anyone from ordering one. Hell, I considered it as recently as a month ago. I instead opted for two 110w boards off of 'baba for $187 which was about half the price of what I would have had to spend for the DIY kit @ HLG if I remember correctly. The numbers just didn't work out for me to pull the trigger with HLG. And I can't be more happy with the performance of my 'baba boards and the money I saved.

HLG sources all of their components from the same terrible country? What the fuck is your point?
