Newbie's please do not germinate you seeds in paper towles. Better Way..

I stopped playing silly games with seeds years ago,stick it in some soil/rockwool,and stop over complicating something that has to be the easiest task ever.
9/10 times,the seed will pop(probably higher if truth be told),and that 1/10 wouldn't have popped regardless of what medium it was stuck in anyway,its a dud no matter what you do to it.
If you can't get a seed to grow in soil,you might aswell give up as a grower lol

the reason for the paper towel is so you don't have to dig the seed back up out of your dirt if it doesn't sprout. I thought I was against the paper towel method for a bit too, but it truly is much easier, and you won't waste a bunch of time like, "oh, this seed might still pop," when really it was rotted on the inside before you ever planted it, or something like that...

Its just like sex... u maby preffer a missionary, doggy or whatever u like position... no matter what u do if u do correctly and thoroughly, you will have offspring for shure... one way or another.

maybe you didnt read anything but what was said was "nature" decided that a viable seed needs a warm moist place to germ so it doesnt matter if its in a paper towel or soil/rockwool, nature dictates what it needs, not some yahoo wearing a tin foil hat.What any of that has to do with creating a human embryo I have no idea.

This is why I put seeds in a dark cup of warm water overnight. They all end up popping but that's besides the point, if you got plenty of seeds and you want to "pre-germinate" to get the ones that popped the fastest, sure PT or shot glass can be handy and save you some rockwool or jiffies.
If however you buy 6-10 seeds at $10 a piece or only have a couple of seeds, using a paper towel as the initial germination medium has no benefit, on the contrary. It's not the PT or the PT 'method' that "works", it's the seed that works, and it works fine in rockwool or any other suitable medium.

Im a newbie here myself, but im with the OP on this one. For a beginner, I feel starting off directly in soil is your best bet - specially if you arent used to gardening and you dont have a lot of time to baby your seedlings. Im a fan of starting off in a solo cup, then going directly to a 5gallon container. ez pz!

am I just gonna leave a dud seed to rot in my soil when I plant the next seed in it cause the first one was a dud? Over all though, it is a matter of preference and I'm not trying to sell any experienced users on how my method is right, but in my experience it is way easier for a newbie to use the paper towel method than soil. why is paper towel easier for beginners? because patience is not a virtue all noobs are born with. Some people might think they have it starting out, but look online about how many people freak cause their seed didn't pop after 24 hours...... 24 hours for a seed to pop might not be rare, but it's not something people should expect from every, or really any seed, especially if it's planted straight into soil.
