Lockdowns don't work.

We are not having this debate in Canada, we have a plan and responsible government that follows expert scientific advice. Trump has put America into a deadly trap and there appears to be few ways out, the options are being constrained by every day of delay.
I agree. When he said he has the power I was hoping the next thing he'd say was that he was giving Fauci the go ahead to organize a national effort and bring all the disparate regional efforts and competing demand for PPE under the federal umbrella. All he did was waste another day and then announce that he's going to let the governors continue to deal with it while hindering them in anyway he can for political points.

I never wasted my time blaming Trump for malfeasance because I never expected anything of him. I always knew he'd be a hinderance. I think it's one of the reasons people seem to think I'm not sufficiently zealous in my anti-Trumpness. I don't focus on Trump enough I guess. I have to constantly berate Trump in order for anything else I say to have any value here. It seems this is just another episode of The Apprentice.

99% of Canadians are like you

all they do and have done for the last few years is talk about trump..really..

that is ALL they do

months ago all you were talking about was impeachment

next:

myopinion

trump is doing a great job..but with you people it doesn't matter what he does ..

what that guy and usa has done insuch a short time is nothing short of amazing

yes i understand you all have trump derangement syndrome and it is NOT going away..and no vaccine will fix that

ps

how could Canadians know what is going on in Canada?

Planes from China still arrive daily with ZERO temperature checks..

canada is not cool..they are not ahead of anyone..they were and still are behind..

they are generally "nice..tolerant..if you have the same opinion pc" people who ignore canadian politics and embrace pathetic talk show

hosts and hollywood movie star's opinions..and the bought off cbc

this is a new virus..its gotta go around
a small % have it go to the lungs and then is really bad for them..
almost 90% have one or more underlying problems already
from what i can see...there will be no vaccine..and if it comes ..the virus willhave alredy gone through the population
and vaccines do not work well on older people[like me]..and we are the ones besides the plethora of over weight diabetes people
that frequent our fast food society
from what i can see we need the herd immunity to do its thing..and it will ..what goes around comes around

and it is and it will

i am fine playing the social distance game
wait too long and you gotta know we will have worse troubles than this china virus
they never shut down the world before...i believe the repercussions are way worse

ok now get back to doing what Canadians do best
.
.........bashing Trump for everything
Trumpy* is withholding tests that are available.

*signifies the palpitating asshole on his face.

The House will bend to his will or it gets the hose again..

If this were Titanic (Leonardo version of course) we'd be at the part of knowing there aren't enough life boats..you could wait for the ship's 'Rider' telling you everything 'otay'! Captain Capitalism will be right back with it..

Facts and reality don't matter to you. So, what's the pay off? Why do you support Trump, you're not that stupid since you can write, after a fashion?

You are either driven crazy with bigotry or you have no idea what leadership is suppose to look like. Do you even know what a sociopath is and if you do, why don't you care?

I believe you are a bigot and your thinking is being driven by fear and hate, there are no other reasons and no excuses. Donald is not the only one who has no clothes, he has left you publicly stark naked in the bright sunshine.

BTW Donald's "travel ban" on China had a hole almost a half million travellers wide, none were isolated or tested.

So whose fault is the testing fiasco in America? Is it "I take no responsibility" Donald trump? Bigotry has turned you into a fool and a sucker and fear has blinded you to reality. Trump will destroy America and is almost the singular cause, but people like you help him a lot, even though he will probably kill you with malicious incompetence (even in Canada). Canada is doing the right thing under smart competent leadership, but you'd prefer Trump because you hate some people more than you love your own country, stupid don't stop at the border. People aren't freaking out here for a reason, the only sound of complaint is the braying of morons. Canada's response was on par with other responsible western governments, but most importantly they quickly admitted their errors and corrected them, Trump can't learn from mistakes, neither can you apparently.

He is turning out to be an almost singular cause of America's looming and current disaster, we must know the causes of the problem before we can take meaningful action to resolve the issues. America is having a third world solution imposed on it, it won't end up much different in America than it will in the Philippines or India. The wealthiest country on earth has been crippled and it is almost exclusively the fault of one man. Blame where blame is due, all the time bought is being squandered, now you know how he managed to bankrupt a casino.

Blaming Trump does help, he is the cause of the crises, China started the Pandemic, but Donald's actions and lack of them will destroy America. It's almost as if Putin was giving him his pandemic plan, he certainly couldn't have done as good a job of national destruction, as Donald is doing now. I, too expected this, but I'm shocked nonetheless, guess that makes me normal.

11,586 New Yorkers will never break the law again.

The vast majority were elderly and minorities, the most vulnerable members of society.
No.

I was referring to the 11,525 New Yorkers who became new cases in the last 24 hours, up from the 7,468 new cases in the previous 24 hour period, up from the 6,337 new cases in the 24 hour period before that. All 25,330 of them should have obeyed the lockdown.

I mean, someone put that on a logarithmic graph for us so we can see that curve do the opposite of flatten. I estimated 16% when it went from 6,337 new cases to yesterday's 7,468. I thought that was shocking but there have been 11,525 new cases recorded since then. What is that? 55%?

In one fucking day.

Some fucking curve flattening...

No.

I was referring to dead New Yorkers who won't be breaking laws.
No.

Those people probably got infected before the lockdown so it mught not have been illegal. In any case you can't arrest dead folks.

I was referring ot the 25,330 New Yorkers who got infected in the last 3 days despite the lockdown. They are clearly afoul of the law.

Look at the number of tests performed per million and the total number of tests performed. It would appear that most people who present are tested now along with those presenting with other health issues. This is an anomaly in the data caused by policy changes and the criteria used for testing, which is becoming more available through state efforts. Italy is 2 weeks further along than new york and the rate of change plotted logarithmically was identical until recently when italy started leveling off.

Of course it's not a viable long term strategy, the responsible governors are doing what they can do with in their powers. Trump is crippling testing deliberately, it makes his numbers look bad, it's that simple, though someone might be getting through to him now. No testing, no economy, people's confidence has everything to do with the economy, economics is the study of human behavior after all and Adam Smith was a keen observer of human nature above all else.

Well study this:

Having all liberty taken away to stop the spread of the virus sucks all the more when you get the fucking virus anyway and can't even go fucking earn a wage to feed your dependents.

And you can't support your family if you're dead.

Ask the sailor who died aboard the Theodore Roosevelt carrier. Oh, wait..

Enjoy that island this thread is on.

It's where the rubber meets the road that counts the most abandon and it's caused in America by governmental incompetence for the most part. It sounds like you are referring to your personal circumstances and that you have been infected with the virus? If so I'm, sorry to hear that, in Canada people "stuck" overseas can get $5K from the government to help with expenses, does the US government have such a program?
