It's All The Fault Of Fox News

RD's are sick, is it true they share many many parts with the yama banshee's? I know they had an RZ that got imported in like 84-85, it was a kenny roberts model iirc.

Could you ever buy an American two-stroke keynes?

American Buffalo?
i dont do 2 strokes. they are too problem prone, smokey and farty.

most american bikes are too loud for my tastes, too low for my height, and too douchey for my machismo.

i love many of the japanese cruisers.

if american companies could get past the regulations and barriers to entry they could do real well with a quiet moderate weight moderate displacement motorbike with a higher ride and lower doucheparade factor.

something for the casual rider and fair weather commuter.

vespas are all the rage in town now, but they only come from overseas, the chinese ones are particularly shitty.

and thats a Bison, not a buffalo.

I thought Buell was doing a fine job once they introduced the XB series...could get a "sit up and beg" XB12 for around $7k but the harley dealers hated them.

I remember looking at them in the dealers and the salesmen would not even come over and try to sell it.
I am still looking for a nice XB12 non-firebolt or a Ulysses in good shape.

Fucking Indian was supremely disappointing I toured their Kings Mountain facility back then during recession I think and what were they making?

$30+k bikes.

The SV was always my fav bang for the buck..

I had an original Victory V92C back in the day.....THAT was a fine bike, oh it had warts but idr any mfg putting something out that good as a first offering.

As for the american bikes being loud, Supretrapps are the answer. The kind with the "tuning discs" on the ends are muy quiet, my old sporty sounded like a Jetsons space car.

Then you would blow a gasket if you heard mine come down your street, your neighbors car alarms would hate it too, thunder headers, baby .

I had an AMF Harley 250 that was a two stroke.
That was a very long time ago. It had issues.

Love my old chainsaws though and my new ones

I remember my dads Maico 490, the expansion chamber on that thing was as big as my right leg.
It was the fastest dirt bike in the world, when I was a kid.

How did I know keynes is not a "loud pipes save lives" kinda person?

I am fucked for zombie apocalypse, bike is quiet but only gets 35mpg
Seems like my old air cooled twin got 50 or better.

My GW sounds like a sewing machine. If I show up on it for a poker run instead of the Harley, my rider friends give me pure hell over it. They'll say "crank up that little weed eater, we'll wait for you". My honda has yet to leave me stranded though and it's almost 30 years old with almost 200k miles on it. But yeah, too quiet. I've been in blind spots on the highway and have had people just pull over on me. I'm a firm believer in loud pipes saves lives.

I'm still looking at the new Indian (Victory) and the liquid cooled Ultra Classic. I'm never getting rid of the Goldwing, it's like family now, but I want something new and shiny so I can play with the cool kids.

I used to catch hell from "cool kids" on my sportster.
Aways replied "wanna race for paychecks?"

Of course power to weight and gear ratios meant nothing to the cool kids with the "big bikes" lol

"loud pipes save lives" is a specious slogan.

if the douche in the Escalade has his windows up and the AC on he aint gonna hear anything, and once the latest One Direction jam comes on, he wouldnt notice a cavalcade of cops and fire trucks behind him, much less the loudener equipped exhaust on somebody's harley.

all a loudener on a bike does for you is exactly what a loudener on your honda accord does, it makes your shit annoying.

if loudness was actually a useful trait for "safety" i would jam 4000 watts of surround sound on my bike and play The Banana Splits Theme on an endless loop.

I have my prejudices against sportsters. I've seen too many trailered home from poker runs. They cost 25% more than comparable rice burners but are less efficient, slower and get worse mileage. The 883 will always be seen to me as the "starter bike for the wife".

It's bad of me I know, but the sportster is my least favorite Harley. It's a cost/benefit thing for me. The only benefit I see is "it's a Harley". I admit to being just a rider and not a biker though. I want to put gas in and ride.

By that measure all harleys are less efficient...even the big ones.

883 has shorter gearing than the 1200.
1st gear was good for up to 3rd vs the TC88....idk about the newer TC and trannys.
