sorry to be direct but nooo nuts till week 3 or 4 period. Those babies are not old enough to handle anything but water. In plant years they are not 21 and drinking age till week 3 or 4......A matter of fact some believe ffof is too hot/strong in organic nuts for seedlings. That is why my recipe calls for light warrior/ffof combo. Note all the good stuff in it......and how light it is. Pick it up full of water and before water. You will note how really light it is and now can really use the pick up pot weight to note when they need it. You most likely couldn't before with other soils because how heavy they were full of water or not...

and ya and with the ffof you really shouldn't need nutrients until flower where you would or I would give atleast one grow feeding in, and then go flower nutrients. I need to swith to ffof. I think I might do that next week. I didn't go with the R.O. for this grow cause of money but now thinking about it next time I repot in two weeks I'll repot in the ffof for sure. Anyways got any new pics?

Sounds good... I was thinkin the difference in the ff would make up for cost of nutes anyway. And I will yes. If I dont get them up tonight (tired as hell).... tomorrow for sure!!!

Ok... here they go. He only germ'd 2 NL's. I thought he did 5. Don't know where that came from.

Anywho... Relaxed, I mixed up half the recipe that you game me. And Yes.... Its light as hell. What a difference! Moistened the soil ever so slightly and planted the 2 NL girls and got them in the grow box under the CFL's. FFOF stinks... whew! :leaf: LoL Gonna sit back and watch....

Green... Got the pics. These are the BB's at 15 days old. Getting nice and dark green and filling out nicely, I think. I also added the pics of the set up for the NL's.

Anyone ever heard of SILICA BLAST? (see pic) The guy at the hydro store said to add that to the water and or nutes to help thicken the tissue of the plants so they live better under extreme conditions; heat, drought ect. The large grow tent has gotten at least 95 on some bad days, and we are having another heat wave again. (we haven't added it, just bought it) Wondered about anyone's input on this stuff?

Ok, getting better. For the veg room. You need to paint it flat white so light bounces off walls back to plants. Either spray paint or brush. Mylar is a hassle, costs more, flaps in the wind so flat white everything. Those cfls look like the ones that have the reflector. If so put it back on as it should fit using the y. Get ride of the foil tray. Foil can create hot spots and should not be in room. I'd put the lights about 1.5 ft. directly over and around the plants. After they have had about 5 days and appear to be used to the lights/heat (green leafs will show happy) move lights to about 3 or 4 inches maybe closer depending how they take the heat. Speaking of heat. Sorry to say but heat in the 90s for much of the day is not good for them and can stunt the growth. You need air movement with fans directly on/over plants. Have some steam movement in the wind. Make sure its not constant but ostilating fan. maybe need to extract heat from room if it stays mid-90s....

Promise your going in the right direction. Hard to judge the watering using that other soil but seedlings again get used to the weight full of water and then light needs water. I'd say guessing 2 to 3 days but that high heat might make it earlier. They like a little on the dry side so keep that in mind.

Looking good. Ya heat is a problem over here too, but it is a florida summer so what can I really do ya know???? Once things start to cool down and gear up for winter I'll be good to go with temps in the 80's. Anyways keep up the good work.

Relaxed.... great info thanks. He does still have the reflectors for the Y's. He also has left over tent material. He mentioned stapling it to the insides of the wall of the veg box? As long as its smooth and tight, should it be a problem?

And the heat??? Uggghhh! I am there with Green. Its horrible and other than going out and buying an Ac for that room alone we have been doing everything to help keep it down.

Yo Green... I am right there with you.... I cannot wait for the winter.... makes it much easier on your grow!

Any word on that silica blast? Dude at the hydro store swears by it.

Ya to keep my house 70 all day long costs 298.54. This past month and a half we have had to stop using the ac during the day cause we just can't afford power bills like that anymore (this was without my hid running or any grow what so ever) and we are very power efficent people never leave lights on sh*t even during the day we just open the curtains and don't use lights. Power costs are getting outragous I don't even want to know what its going to be like in 5 years........ Anyways sorry for the ramble just smoked a couple bowls of this here "chronic" naw its decent stuff. :)

Ramble away my dude! I totally agree with you!! My bill is just the same. Unreal! and dont let the bill run close to 30 days behind or they will shut ya down!

And..... the NL's are about to break thru that soil! As soon as they do I will post some more pics!

Ya I know thats true. The power bill is paid on time every time though I'm a bit paranoid about that when I have mj growing in the house haha.

Great I'm excited about these they should be a top notch smoke. Keep those cfls right down on them seedlings within 2 inches of them at all times to aviod stretch. Veg 'em to about two weeks under the cfls and then you can throw 'em in with the hps with a bit less stretch.

Ok..will do. I noticed last night that you can just make out the top of the seed cap coming thru. But they really havent popped up yet. I am too thinking they are taking a bit longer to peek thru?? Could it be the NL's take a bit longer. Can ya see we are impatient? LoL My husband said they were taking longer and I am like naw, your anxious... they'll come. But Now I am feeling the same way!

The BB's are looking great. I am gonna get ready to top them and also update some more pics tonight, hopefully if i'm not to tired when i get home from work!

Lol every seed is different like us (humans if you didn't know lmao) some take longer while others are very fast. It all depends on how you planted your seed. Was it germinated before planting or did you just chuck the seed into the soil and water it? I normally get sprouts about 48-72 hours after planting germinated seeds.

You know if you stand over your plants for hours on end above the light they don't get much light...lol? Gonna have to give you the 8 hour rule. Watching plants grow every 30 minutes appears they don't grow at all. Come back daily. They do grow in spurts. Seen a dozen seeds started at the same time from 4 different sources. some cracked in 48 hrs and others go as long as a week. Every strain is different. Seen seedbanks claim a strain is a slow starter but levels out med. Veg about wks 3-5. Oh, if you don't have one buy a min. 30x mag. glass. You can get them on ebay for $5 get the one with the led light. Or you can get them up to 100x mag. at radioshack for about 15 bucks i hear. Good for seeing male/female before the eyes and most important trich color for harvest time. I can see you husband getting dizzy watching the plants thru the jewelers eye loop for hrs on end....

never heard of that stuff the hydro guy sold u? Happens all the time with new stuff on the market. Never know if it works without trying or do a search or better yet start a thread on the stuff and see if someone has used it. Speaking of good stuff. I have used AV. Nut. Bud Blood and like the effects. To be used only the first week in flower to kick start the flowering. Usually unless the plants are babies they will show bud in about 3/4 days when not used can take up to a week or 2.

Do a top when the plant has about 5 or 6 nodes or rows of leafs going up the plant. You can keep topping as much as you want but give the plant at least a week to recover before flowering. I can see you are going to flower asap but sometime keep a mother plant and keep topping her. That way you have many clone/bud sites and when you do throw her into flower may you will have good results....check into cloning. You should clone these plants if you like them enough to keep growing them and this will really speed up the process of growing. It's really not hard to get success at cloning. If I haven't mentioned you should keep a word doc of subjects reflect on for the future. cute and paste things you like about a subject into it by topic.......even links....

Ahhh....still nothing yet on the NL's. I did germinate them first then planted in the mix Relaxed told me to use. We planted them about midnight monday. So 3 days now. I think I am a little more patient than Hubby. Green, I told him that same thing..... everything is different.

And Relaxed you hit that on the head. He has a loop with a light but never really used it. I can see him now after using the threads during our grow.... he is gonna be like an addict with the loop!

I have 3 sets of leaves now on the BB's. Except for the runt... she is catching up, slowly, but she is getting there. The stems are starting to thicken up now. We plan on cloning the NL's and actually going to purchase the Daisy cloner or something like that soon. I heard the BB's are very temperamental and aren't the easiest strain. A lil more experience and we can begin to dabble more... I dont wanna waste anymore time and money! LoL I do book mark a lot of pages in my favorites on the internet, and subscribed threads. I do read a lot, lately dont think I am retaining much! LoL

Oh and I did post a thread in the newbie section in regard to the silica. 2 responses. One liked it and another didnt. This guy @ the hydro store has always been on point about everything, now whether hubby followed his word ( ahem, FF! LoL he was told that before! LoL) or not is a different story. But he has never steered him wroing. Dude is like a biologist or something. But I like a general idea of everyones opinion too.

Here some pics of the BB's @ 18 days!

Wow good information here relaxed you seem like you know your stuff. You got a journal my man?

:leaf:Peace:leaf:
Thanks a bunch. I am kind of private on the journal stuff. Don't mind helping out a fellow any time but i don't think for several personal reasons I'll be starting a journal. Sure enjoy watching others success. I have more plant experience then weed but they are all plants...The transition wasn't difficult. :weed:

say, if those plants start to have knats most likely its because of watering too much. The ffof soil helps stop or reduce it tremendously. If those plants that don't have ffof start to show knats I'd scrap off a couple inchs soil and replace it with ffof soil. The ffof will ad some organic nuts. and stop put a lid on the bugs....

Speaking of bugs and preventive ...fyi

Bug spray…
Spray bottle

- one cap full each of Neem oil, Seaweed extract (Home Depot cheap) and Hydrogen peroxide. Fill with phed water. Shake well before using. Use in veg. and let leafs dry before putting direct under lights. Put on when lights are out with good fan venting. Use in flower till buds appear maybe till wk 5 then only spray on top of soil before watering so mix is provided to plant roots.
