Ok.... picked up my lime.... Altho I wont prep the soil till this weekend.. Should I PH down the water that I will be using to moisten the soil? Also should I continue to Ph the water that I am giving the seedlings?

You should always use phed correct water 6.4/6.5 for soil at any stage. Anything else could/will lock out nuts. and stress plants. Digital ph meters have a slight varience so good to be exact.

Just mix real well the recipe soil. The soil recipe I gave you will start you off exactly the phed soil you/plants need. Really no need to check soil ph again with that recipe and phed correct water. They will explode in dark green growth. Don't be alarmed if they grab you and give you a big hug...thanks...

oh, make sure you let the water stand for min. 24 hrs before using to get ride of the clorin. You can use a clean cooler or buy some big plastic trash cans to keep water ready.
While at it make sure you have 3 times the water per gallon of your plants size pot on hand always. In the event you over nut. in flower and notice leaf problems/dieing etc. you can flush to ride nuts and min. loss. Promise it will happen at some point when you push the nuts. no panicing...

Ahhh ok. Understanding the Ph and nute thing now. He didnt get the FF soil. The one retailer in the area that does carry it was out and he has already gotten the NL's ready to crack. We do have more of the soil that we were using and he did pick up the lime. The soil is Pro Mix by Premier Horticulture. He was really pissed that they were out of the FF. He really wants to follow all of this to a tee and make sure it all comes out well. I dont recall what soil he used for the first grow...hmmm. He has got me all over the net looking things up. I think he is beginning to question himself after the last grow. But when your putting your time and money into something... you want to make sure its right! :bigjoint: So I don't blame him!

He has also asked me to research and find what the best veg time is for the BB. So far I am finding that time plays along with a lot of other factors, such as height (room in tent) topping, ect. I have seen any where from 4 weeks to 7. I would prefer to keep them short and bushy by topping them. I also don't want the jungle we experienced in the last grow. That was horrible!

Am I making sense? LoL I have been reading so much I am confused! LoL :eyesmoke:

I do really appreciate yall. So does hubby. He does get on and read and once in a while respond... (he's not the computer type) Too Bad I couldnt share some of this good smoke with you guys when its all said and done!

super...go ahead with what you have and keep checking in with the retailer and start using ff Ocean Forest when available. Use the soil getting you by in the your garden or start some veggis/herbs with it. Go with some mint for the mojito party to celebrate your chop down day. When I started I had mid veg. plants going no place more dieing leafs then new growth or least equal. Introduced to ffOF within 5 days they exploded with growth with no more dieing. Even some half dieing leafs gained life and fought off dieing...no kidding...Based on your size I'd buy a couple bags FFOF. It is heavy grow time so the retailer was sold out for a reason.

Many schools of thought about when and how long to veg. Id say go a min. 4 weeks from seed before starting flower. Plants are babies young so they won't start flower till about 6 weeks from seed no matter what...Training dipers. That is if you have all good growth and are not fighting off dieing leafs. You need about 6 good healthy growth leaf rows going up. To be honest....imo get your plants about 8 to really 12" tall before flower....they will double or triple in size flower. sativa high side and indica a low side.

Your on the right track..

One thing...I would top all plants and when you do let them have a week or 2 to grow before flower starts. If you have the time and space to veg long multiple topping is good and fun to see 4 mid size buds vs. one big one. No topping or anything to plants when flower starts.

ohhh sucks they were outta the ff, they don't carry Roots Organics (its basically the same thing as ffof with a bit more peat moss and perlite. The guys at my hydro store went into big detail with it showed me the ingreident list, its like 4 bucks cheaper and you get a lil bit more not much bit its still more. I've used it for two successfull grows so far its some pretty good stuff. Either or both are great.

Have you checked out Mammaths thread from the beginning to end? He has a great topping technique that I'm trying this grow around.

Shyt, shyt shyt! :wall::wall::wall: The Hydro store closes early today and isnt open tomorrow. Do you think if we plant the germed seeds into the soil mix I have now and when we replant into the bigger pots we can get the FFOF or the Roots Organics? I am wondering if this is a bad thing? and would hurt them if I did it that way? I have to get those seeds into soil before tomorrow. I cant wait til monday night! Arrgggh! I really wanted to get them into the FFOF, but I guess thats what we get for assuming that they would have it in stock.

Also, just watered the babies. The lower leaves were a lil yellowish, so Hubby added some sensi grow A & B to the water. Funny thing is he did the ph testing of the water before the nutes. It was 7.2. he added 10cc's of both A & B and tested again. First gallon bottle was 6.4. So he watered the babies, the 5 of them shared the gallon. The second gallon he was prepping for the spray bottle came out to be 6.0 after the nutes! Wonder why? I was thinking maybe he didnt shake up the first bottle and that could have not been mixed well? I dont know... but I really do wanna hit my head on the wall now. Gonna get some PH up today. I want to make sure that my water is at least ph'd correctly if nothing else!

Here is some more pics of the babies before the feeding today. One of them is looking like a lil runt... she took a bit longer to peak her head thru!

Oh and thanks for all the topping info Relaxed and Green! I did skim thru Mammath's thread... I will have to read thru it more and compare his notes with mine. I had started topping last grow and got some really great "Y's". When I get home tonight I am gonna read thru everything and get my schedule ready to get everything done. I still have a lil bit before I can top them. The 3rd set of leaves hasn't gotten there just yet.

Wooo hoooo! getting that much closer to some beautiful buds!!!! yay! lol

I can't tell from the picture quality but is that off color yellow on your plant leafs? If your just now correctly phing the water this should improve in new growth over a couple weeks. If it continues to show signs of poor leaf quality health then need to consider...well.. replanting in ffof soil. Did i mention i read someplace that ffof soil may be the only soil specifically formulated for growing weed? That's how perfect that stuff is for mj.

No problem. The ladies are looking good I'm glad you guys put them closer to the light and stopped the stretching. Some nutrient mixes do have a tendency to mess with the ph. Thats why you check after adding nutrients. And that ph up down is VERY potent it doesn't take much so be careful when using it.

I noticed that 2 of the girls have their leaves curling upward. I know this is due to the ph. Hubby bought some PH up today and we didnt PH the water when we originally mixed the soil. :wall: And thanks! He said this morning that they were looking bigger after the watering/ nutes. So I am gonna take a look and post some more pics tonight if there is a huge difference. I am still trippin' over that fact that we didnt need to water them as much as we thought! That makes things so much easier! LoL

Hold on a minute. I hope your not adding any nuts to seedlings before they are 3/4 weeks from sprout? Surely not? No nuts for any plants 3/4 weeks from sprout. Veg. doesn't start till week 3 or 4.

Leaf curl could be from too much heat just as much as incorrect ph. Either will take a couple days to show improvement. Normally I wouldn't use anything other then cfls for the first 2/3 weeks. Careful hps are can very easily be too much heat...ballance.

Right right.....

No nutrients till they show you they need nutrients ... Its better less than more. Keep 'em happy and thats its. Give water for a bit and thats it.

Ahhh..... I see. Hubby bought the sensi grow A & B and went by the feeding charts. (he did this in the first grow too that turned out good) So then no grow? Only bloom after flowering starts? Thinking what the grow would be used for then? Man I am a noob. LoL

But on another note... We got the FF OC and LW! YAY!!! Gonna mix that up according to the "recipe" and put them under the CFL's. We have a 3x3 grow box that he also made and hung 3 sets of cfl's. So the NL's will be planted tonight.

Umm yanno what I was just thinking.... we werent using a nutrient rich soil like FF OC for the BB. And the grow is for the 24 hr cycle, then bloom on 12/12. But when we do the FF soil... we wont use any nutes. So the nutes should be ok for the BB? Thoughts?

Dude at the hydro store said that the FF is by far the absolute best. Got my husband all that much more amped up.
