Would several small light leaks (very difficult to block) mostly through the net pots be negated by a cool res (<72 f)? Could algae still destroy my crop?
Doesnt have to be anything fancy you just need to block light. How am I supposed to block out the net pots Im doing everything I can
Do you have space to put a reservoir in a cooler part of the basement and recirculate your current setup? My current power costs for this operation are already about 100 / month... what can I do??
My entire basement runs pretty consistently at about 76 f. As for this grow, what do you think?I'd consider changing your setup up quite a bit. Not this grow though. I suggest looking into other methods of hydro to keep your water cooler. You don't HAVE to run A/C or a chiller to get those temps down. That's the easy way, but if you want to save power, I'd change the whole system.
You are going to have to run a remote reservoir.
Check out aeroponics. My thinking on this is that at one time there won't be much water in your warm tent, it will be in the cool res.
Drain to waste and fill and drain are also other methods that can be used to keep the majority of the water out of the tent for pretty cheap.
Keep the hydroguard going and run ice bottles. It's going to suck, but you just need to get through this grow. I've got some ideas for your next setup with those basement temps if you're interested later. As for this grow, what do you think?
I always love hearing ideas so shoot me them anytime man. In the meantime, my reservoir is being cooled by whynter air it is currently 0f outside and I'm running a 4in intake with a 200 CFM fan to my tent to keep the temps in the reservoir lower than 72 degrees.Keep the hydroguard going and run ice bottles. I am using tap water yep. I live in a big city in Ontario that has some very good quality tap water of medium hardness and I figure that it's good enough to run the cycle. I've done a lot of research and that's the conclusion I draw but I'm open to hear your thoughts and I can see that you caught a lot of residue maybe sodium and other stuff like chlorine and the chlorine ammonia.II dont want to go back through all of this but are you using tap water? I just took my RO filter apart that I used for only 3 months, and got clogged, and the same exact shit in my hydro filter with tap is in my RO filter. I'm pretty sure it's not just sediment but who knows.
My point is that if you have bad tap, and there are tons of shit that can be in tap water, you might just be reintroducing crap into your system.
My RO filter after 3 months and my inline filter from my system.
Very interesting that the basement could be contaminated. It is generally really clean and there's nothing much down there it's quite an open Big Space maybe about 400 square feet one room. I haven't cleaned the totes since I started the project a month-and-a-half ago and there is a little bit of grime at top but I am pretty quick to pick up dead plant material in the res and around the res and to wipe up spills and such. There is a bit of a smell yep. I only recently got this cooling system setup like 4 days or so and I'm interested to see the results.Nute staining on roots and not root rot? (Looking at last pix)
What does it smell like in there?
Run a sterile res?
Air pump intake sucks in bacteria and injects it into your closed system.. source maybe in your basement.
I haven't directly uploaded pictures but I link to an Imager album several timesI noticed you never posted any pictures
