The biggest worry isn’t Trump. Project 2025 is bigger than one man, and even if one dictator wannabe dies there are many people waiting to replace him. And make no mistake, Project 2025 or some variation WILL happen here in this country - either in 2025 or perhaps 2029 or 2033… whenever the Republicans have the trifecta again (which is going to happen at some point, it’s just the way our political pendulum and our voters work). So really it’s up to our institutions and the few good people left in power to stand up to the dictator wannabes when they’re voted in.

If Biden and the democrats win there might be a caravan of them heading north to Canada and freedom, until they hit the border and customs. Refugee status from ole Joe and the deep state will be hard for them to claim in Canada. First question customs and immigration will ask is who won the 2020 presidential election and probably who won the 2024 election, as a mental health test.

It seems like these protestors are similar to the "Freedumb" convoy that ended up in the occupation of our national capital (Canada) for 3 weeks in that the biggest beef they had, that was the covid restrictions. Those restrictions were already being lifted, but they protested anyway, because why? At that point, it seemed pretty pointless to protest, and I'm seeing a similar thing happening with these morons in that there is a bipartisan bill, with a provision to shut down the border should there be a large number of migrants and asylum seekers at the southern border. So, I don't know, what the hell is the point when it's apparent Biden and democrats have already made concessions to the republicans, even if they are trying to keep it from passing. Far be it from me to understand these idiots. smh

They are not the base they lead the base just like foxnews and their politicians. Many in the base are not that stupid as statistics reveal, they know better but have other priorities. Don't get me wrong though there are plenty of people like we see in videos outside Trump rallies waiting for his words of wisdom.

The last time Republicans controlled the House was the 2005-2006 session. Since then they split control in two sessions and the rest of the time Democrats held control. We've won control of the House for six straight sessions/the past twelve years. Jason Rapert makes much noise but carries small stick in the House. But they carry real clubs too.

Rapert's MAGA gang now control the GOP in Oregon where they do more damage and have more influence through far right extremist rallies that have turned into club wielding mobs chasing down counter protesters.



That little guy in front is Dan Tooze, vice chair of the Clackamas County Republican Party. At that August 2021 rally, other Proud Boys beat a man who was sitting in a pickup truck and were charged with a felony.



The guy in the far right is Clackamas Republican Rep. James Hieb. He sprayed counterprotesters during a right wing rally in front of the Multnomah Justice Center on Aug. 2020. The summers of 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 were scary times in the Portland metropolitan area.

Things have been quieter lately. Although they have almost zero chance of taking control of any branch of Oregon's government this year, they are a menace that has yet to be defanged.

He must be thrilled by those senators getting disqualified, incumbents have a big advantage, and they can't run. With the tide turning in national politics and the republicans split from base to top, though not evenly and of course Trump, there is a possibly of winning some of those senate seats in November, since the GOP has kinda gone off the deep end as far as a lot of folks are concerned.

Maybe a point has been reached in politics where a 30-day mental health exam and report are required before some members can be seated...

Whatevs.

That's easy to say from a seat in Nova Scotia. They HAVE gone off the deep end and are not gaining ground in Oregon, maybe losing ground, time will tell. The potential for violence is still too high for me to lose my level of concern. The anger and hostility they expressed when Measure 114, the measure that (gasp) would ban the sale of large capacity magazines, was off the charts and went completely bonkers. @Aeroknow told a good story about that in this forum. You'd think that we had passed a law that empowered police officers to break down doors of gun owners and take their guns. It was completely off the charts.

It won't get better until those people stop threatening those they decide to target. Right now, it seems they are targeting election officials in rural counties. So don't tell me about how its getting better. This confrontation is far from over and more blood will get spilled, almost all of it from the pro democracy side.

Win elections and gain majority support and the law can deal with the miscreants, or you make new laws that will. When these magats talk of trouble and revolution etc, what they are talking about is law breakers versus the law abiding and we know how that ends. As for sympathetic cops, there are longer term legal and social conquests for them too, or can be if a democratic majority rules, right up to the limits of the constitution. They can only really operate with air cover, protection from above, like with Trump, or red states that allow people to parade around armed to the teeth in the legislature.
