Here is the basic advice resulted from this thread.

If you are fighting slime brew mycogrow soluble and ancient forest and add 1 cup per gallon.

If you are not fighting slime and just want protection, brew at least mycogrow soluble and add 1 cup per 10 gallon.

If you want further details of why it works or which products you can substitute you'll have to read the thread.

Not having a slime issue, but I have seen it before. I have a large cooler I use for a reservoir, and frozen 3 liter bottles. My temps hang around 68-70. Just recently ordered some Mycogrow soluble and was debating on how to use it when I found this thread. Sub+Rep...Back to the beginning I go...Thanks

but then you will be adding calmag to your rez.. You would need to use at least a cup to put the proper amount of molassis in the mix. And calmag is $2.50/cup. Just go to the store and buy some molasses for $6.

Not too mention adding that much CalMag as a food source, the bennies will eat the sugars but would likely leave a large portion of the Cal/Mag behind. At that volume you could potentially experience lockout issues. Definitely go get some straight molasses. Cheers-

Fermented molasses is what you get after it has already been eaten and processed by microbes. Any usable energy which could be attained via oxidization has been depleted. IOW, it is not only a poor food source for microbes, it is no food source at all.

Fermentation is the process of extracting energy from the oxidation of organic compounds, such as carbohydrates, and using an endogenous electron acceptor, which is usually an organic compound.

This is actually why you can use calmag plus in hydro without fear of aggravating slime or clogging sprayers. So keep it out of the tea and save it for the res IF you need it.

Good deal...I'm all set then, got a bucket, lid, airstone, pump...just waiting on the guys @ fungi perfect. Like I said, not having any issues right now, but I'd like the protection. I'm really tired of the frozen bottles also, and really wanting to explore the "increased uptake" aspect of all this. Will post back to let you know how I do. Thanks

Hey heisenberg. An update on my root rot battle. After running the bennie tea for more than 3 weeks I've got robust white roots. All I've been adding to the res is my base nute and the bennie tea. Now that I'm in flower can I start adding Floralicious plus and heavy-16 prime(sweetener) to the res w/o fear of slime returning?

Heisenberg will obviously have a more thought out and respectful answer as this may be a little crushing.... Adding sugars to your water does NOT make your buds sweeter. I'm not really sure which historical stoner started this myth but indeed many of my friends and I find it extremely comical when people start adding all kinds of fruit flavored shit to there hydro.

It's about genetics and plant health. Last year I had the best fucking raspberries I have ever had. I mean they were like heaven. I asked the farmer (was a farmers market) if he watered with sugars or anything because he they were sooo sweet. I will never forget the look he gave me. He looked at me like I was a fucking retard. He said" there sweet because I found the sweetest berries on my farm and propagated my whole patch with them. If you want a delicious asparagus you don't grind up asparagus and water the fields with them".

For whatever reason that made a hell of allot of sense to me. Not to mention that plants can't uptake much sugar at all. My understanding is that whole " yeah dude, if you give them sugar they won't have to make it and they can spend all thy energy on making buds" is complete and utter bullshit. NO farmers in the world feed their plants sugar water. But yet, there it is on the hydro shelf.... And they are laughing all the way to the bank.

Been there, added molasses to my Rez once... Uggh.

You would probably be okay to try those additives at this point if you want. Keep an eye on things and if you see the slime returning, you know a quick cure. I believe that you can supply the plant with a little extra energy which will help it reach it's genetic potential flavor, but I feel that is best done through a foliar spray. Flavor is most influenced by genetics and curing.

I would use your sweeteners as food for the tea or continue using them in the res if you want. For a foliar spray I would use liquid light + saturator. If you need to go a cheaper route, use GH florablend. If you don't have any money to spend, use the tea as a spray with a 50/50 dilution in pure water.

Oh aight I'll try adding to the res and see what happens. Liquid light+saturator was one of my options earlier but I wasn't sure if it was worth the money? $100 on a foliar spray? I went with Seaplex a couple weeks ago and noticed an increase in tighter internode spacing. Very impressed with Seaplex.

Go here LL is $40 and saturator is $20, my first bottle of LL is still 1/4 full after more than a year.

Got mine today. Starting the tea tonight.

There you go again posting in a thread without adding anything pertinent to the topic! J/k of course. It was understandable and left no hard feelings. Notice that I never disagreed with your premise. This thread has bloat. Some of it is off topic and some of it is due to lack of people reading previous pages, which itself can be blamed on bloat. I think this is a problem inherent to any forum which values free expression. In any case the past is the past and I try not to dwell on it.
